"The Deck and Patio Company built us a wonderful outdoor space. Our project was precipitated by the rotting out of a critical beam in our upstairs master bedroom balcony. Martin Sullivent worked with us to not only replace the failed balcony, but to redesign it to incorporate an adjacent pergola, complete with fireplace, stone planters, sidewalk, and pony wall. In working with him over the ensuing months, we became impressed by his attention to detail and his concern for quality of craftsmanship. Our patio faces a slope down to a lake shore, and Martin's team poured a structural foundation for our patio to guarantee against erosion and sinking. The beams of the pergola are solid and sturdy, lending not only an attractive appearance, but also strength and durability. His team carefully designed placement of our fireplace in the corner of our patio to enhance and complement the view of the lake. During the design phase of the project, Martin encountered constraints resulting from the existing structure. For example, the rise between our existing patio and the patio door jamb was insufficient to allow for pavers. Martin worked with us to present alternatives that would meet our objectives, such as leaving the surface as brushed concrete, staining the concrete, or doing a stamped concrete overlay; we opted for the latter. In each case, Martin was careful to share with us the pros and cons of the various solutions. Every time we have a party, it's a BLAST! (we do it often) and we love having people over because they all enjoy it as much as we do. We strongly recommend the Deck and Patio Company to people looking to invest in a quality project to enhance their outdoor living experience."

"Brandon and Cruz completed a number of small projects, including caulking a leaky roof vent and two leaky windows, installing a door threshold, repairing a ceiling drywall crack, and replacing an exterior wood handrail. All done with attention to detail and excellent results! They are professional, friendly, and diligent. I recommend these two and look forward to working with them again."

"A+ Experience. Stain It Tx and Jaime Salazar did a wonderful job building my deck. They were professional, courteous, on time and communicated well. They built the deck exactly as I wanted it and at the price quoted. They even went above and beyond and fixed a fence that another company did incorrectly. Would definitely recommend."

"We couldn’t be happier with our little patio expansion. Our 1-year-old really enjoys playing on the patio! Oscar and the crew were so quick and clean, you hardly knew there was any work being done. The added space gives us the function we need for now, and we are excited to have Allied back to put up a patio cover later this year."

"I am very impressed with the work of Damar Co. The fence looks great and I like the fact that he uses screws instead of nails and hand-selects the cedar planks so there are no huge knot holes or other imperfections. I would definitely use him again."

"Owner Tommy Hollis responded quickly to my request for a consultation on new decking. He came on Oct 14 and returned an initial estimate providing a few different materials options on Oct. 16. On Oct. 23 we accepted one of the options and he submitted a final estimate. Tommy told us that his company was fully booked and we should not expect them to begin before Dec.1. We accepted that projected date and gave him a check for half the payment on Oct. 28. <br /> Before the Thanksgiving holiday, I called to ask if I could get a more detailed design than the "footprint" from which he made the estimate. I hoped to be able to see how some of the details would look since we were changing an elevation from the previous deck and moving the area of one of the levels. After a couple of phone calls, Tommy came to the house to answer my questions as we walked around the area. I would have preferred a diagram or picture, but this company does not use a computer aided design software. Nevertheless, Tommy was polite and patient with my concerns. <br /> Four workers came to tear out the old deck on Thursday, Dec. 11. They completed digging most of the holes and setting many of the piers. The next day two men worked to complete the piers. Rain caused some delays but the workers completed the deck in the afternoon, Dec. 18. Tommy stopped by to check on them each day except the last. He instructed us to give Wyatt the remainder of the payment when they finished and we did so. <br /> I was impressed with the work ethic and skill of the employees. They were polite and helpful. Before they tore out the old deck, they helped us move heavy potted plants off the deck and out of the way. At our request, they stacked some of the old decking for us to use on another project. If they thought anything might be objectionable or inconvenient, they checked with us first. They cleaned the site daily. We were never sure when they would show up, early morning or mid-afternoon. Some of that might have been due to the rain. Our presence was not necessary, so knowing when they were coming was not crucial to our coming and going. <br />"

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Freeport, TX

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
