"I love my Crimsafe products. I covered my entire house. The product is impressive. It is very heavy duty and I feel very safe. The product is very finished and looks clean. The installation took 2 days. It is a premium product but, worth every penny. We all rest better at night knowing that no one can break into our home. Plus it is a hurricane protection as well. So, our windows are protected during storms too. The service was great."

"I needed to alleviate some low level water build-up during hard or extended rains.  Todor had installed gutters on the east and west sides of my house at the same time that they installed vinyl siding on my house in 2005.  I called Pat Todor on Monday morning.  He came by for an estimate at 2pm that afternoon.  The job was finished on Thursday morning.  Quick, excellent work.  Within 4 weeks, Hurricane Isaac dumped a load of rain on us for two days.  No problems with the gutters, old or new. <br /> In 2005, when we had the vinyl siding installed, Todor also replaced eight double paned windows for us.  No problems. <br /> The vinyl siding looks great.  It runs vertically and looks beautiful.  If you didn't know it was vinyl, you couldn't tell.  Easy to clean and really helps keep our electrical bill down. <br />"

"They arrived at the site later than scheduled. Installed the windows the best they can, as we are learning now. The sales person emphasized that if anything is wrong with any of the windows, the window part will be replaced promptly. One of the front windows had misaligned grids between the top and bottom sashes. We were promised that the sash with misaligned grids will be replaced; the necessary window information was supposedly recorded, but we never heard back from the sales representative even after multiple calls to the company office. <br /> For the past four months we have been renovating our house. The changes to the house triggered a safety code requirement to install larger windows on the second floor. My husband, I, and our builder attempted multiple times to contact Capital Improvements for a quote for new windows in order to ensure that they match with the windows on the rest of the house. At this point we wanted to give the company another chance. However, no one contacted back any one of us. We resorted to going to the office in person where we were given the sales representative's cell phone number. To make the long story short: Capital Improvements gave our builder a quote for the two new windows after multiple requests and exchanges. The quote was delaying the project and when it finally arrived, it the prices were rather high. We had already got an alternative quote that turned out significantly lower than the one from Capital Improvements and had decided to buy the windows from the alternative provider in order to keep the project on track. <br />"

"<p>The construction did not really go along with the style of our house, it was part of the reason we didn?t went. It looked inexpensive. It was an all aluminum thing and it just didn?t quite work with the house. We checked a couple of other options and we decided to just skip that and do another project, that was on our list, instead. They came out quickly, they were on time and gave an estimate.</p>"

"I have known for several years that I needed to have my fascia and soffit replaced as well as some other random boards on the exterior of my home. As a single woman I likened searching for someone to do it to a root canal with no pain killer. Hence I put it off.  <br /> I came upon "Fix It Fred," through a close friend of mine who has used his services for years. I called for an estimate and his was lower than the other quotes I had been given by a large margin.  <br /> What I look for in a service provider: <br /> <strong> Good response time<br /> Honesty <br /> Explanation of different options ( I will look into those options to see whether they are merely an up-sell. If they are an up-sell then I will not hire that provider. )<br /> Quality work done as unobtrusively as possible depending on the job<br /> Fair pricing<br /> Work completed in a timely manner.</strong> <br />  Fix It Fred not only met but exceeded my checklist. <strong>I will definitely use him again for home repairs.</strong> <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Gonzales, LA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
