6 employees. Uses Licensed subs for irrigation, lighting, brick work and carpentry. You plant around your design, not design around your plants. Confusing? Upon meeting with a new client, most people will typically tell me of their favorite plant(s). Putting plants in the lead position of the design process will guarantee you a landscape that resembles your neighbors and every other house on the street and across the community. It’s like determining the colors you will use in your new house and you haven’t yet designed the house!\n\nLike colours, plants are a medium. You must provide context in order to give meaning. This is the hardscape or ‘bones’ referred to in garden literature. Be it a simple graveled path, a grouping of boulders, or obedient deference to existing topography, this is what will provide year-round interest. It is also the framework that will suggest and therefore help you choose which plants and their placement. The end result is an aesthetic and harmonious integration of hardscape and softscape elements.\n\nThe Walkabout Way acknowledges the on-site environmental realities (ecozone, drainage, sun, shade etc..) and integrating these along with the clients desired outside intentions (active/passive use) as the basis for formulating a design theme. The end result is a naturalistic approach that is environmentally and ecologically sensitive, yet aesthetically pleasing regardless of the season.

"Would highly recommend this company. All aspects of process were top notch and all employees were focused on quality over speed. Iam totally happy with our quarter of a mile driveway which now is an accent to the appearance of our property. Stop with the never ending repairs to your driveways and pave it with Allstar."

"Phil and I are so very pleased with the quality of work and the professionalism of the entire crew from TBL. We had another company we were seriously considering for the build of this patio. But our decision to go with TBL rested solely on the expertise and wisdom we saw in Kimbra. I really felt we would be able to communicate our desires and hear what could and could not be done in an honest way with Kimbra. She was right beside us through every decision and kept us in the loop at all times. We will use TBL again for other projects. Our patio is beyond beautiful. Our thanks to Chilo and his crew for their amazing skill bringing our ideas to reality. Each person, from electricians, to roofers, to gutter installers, was professional and very experienced. We are VERY satisfied and having a hard time coming inside from our beautiful patio. :) Thank you so much for having such a great group of people representing your company. And the value for the end result was very fair!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Frisco, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
