"This pro provided useful information via a virtual (online) video consultation. Since this service does not send technicians to the home, they did not do the actual work. I am considering whether to order parts and try to complete the repair myself or under their virtual direction."

"he fI called Appliance Savers Repair after getting an email about an Angie's List deal. I had not heard of the company before, but when I saw a review saying that he fixed a 4 year old LG refrigerator, I gave him a call. He answered the phone right away, and I told him at length about the problem we were having and that I had had another repairman look at it. I also told him that there have been serious problems with this model and that the other repairman and a local appliance salesman said to trash it and get a new one.
Mike felt it was worth trying to fix it.
He was able to come the very next day and spent over three hours checking everything and trying to diagnose the problem. He was willing to remove the doors to be able to get to the back of the unit, something the other repairman did not do.He admitted to being baffled, but wanted to try replacing the freezer thermistor in case that was the problem.  He returned the next day when the part arrived, but that did not fix the issue either.
I have never had an appliance repairman work so hard. He was so good about explaining what could be going on and how he was trying to fix it. The amazing thing was that refused to take any payment for his work, saying that he came to do a diagnostic on the appliance and that since he was unable to repair it, we should not be charged. This is my first experience with anyone doing business this way. I would recommend him to anyone.

"I highly recommend Mark for repairs. I called him on Saturday morning he arrived shortly thereafter to my mothers house to fix her refrigerator & did a great job. Mark had to put up with the smell of rotten food in the refrigerator &; a leaking floor to fix the appliance for my mother. Mark prices were reasonable, the repair was completed same day & he put up with a lot to get the job done. Plus, it was a Saturday!!! Please dont hesitate to call Mark any for any appliance repairs you need done."

"They were awesome! I had specialist requests to keep all toxic chemicals to a minimum. They went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. They did an excellent job, were there when I needed them and everyone was so nice. My bills have been really low ever since I used them. I will definitely recommend them and absolutely use them, again."

"I was searching Home Warranty providers after a bad experience with my 7 year, soon to be terminated "former" Fidelity Home Warranty service provider. Warranty service providers are essential, for they step in and "act" when life deals you an "Oh Crap" situation like your refrigerator suddenly quits. Every high dollar appliance in a home has a life span that will end whether your prepared for it or not. It's a common occurance that leads to unexpected higher debt concerns while you frantically attempt to save your food from going bad. Got a minimum of $1,700 to get a new one? A truck or a really good friend to borrow theirs to pick it up? Plus time to allow it to achieve proper temperature to transfer your temp sensitive food! Well if you haven't experienced this type of event, in your life, you will! I began by doing some easy research online like searching for best Home Warranty providers. I put some inquiries out to prospective providers and as expected, the sales calls began to ring on my phone. They all have why "they" are the best provider - so take notes and compare policies. Ask whether they cover swimming pools, septic systems, roof repairs etc. So my phone rings with an out-of-state area code and it's Zach from Choice Home Warranty. While on the call, this enthusiastic salesman hit all the "trigger" items I was looking for; *Annual Service Price *Price per claim deductable *Response time You know, all the "need to know" info that helps you make an informative decision. I started paying $550/year 7 years ago in 2014 with my old service provider. The per claim fee was $65. Today in 2022, it's $710/year and $85/claim. Was it worth it you ask? If I figure the math, my total cost over 7 years and only 4 claims was $4,450 or $636/year. This cost paid to replace my pools salt cell and chlorine generator ($1,800 in parts alone), 2 separate Air Conditioner repairs which replaced the coil fan motor, a circuit board replacement, system coil cleansing, relays and a capacitor. (No idea of how much my total cost would have been. I paid $65 twice. Nice huh?) 1 roof repair that replaced the "Cricket", which is a 15' roof section elevational change just below the ridge line. It's important to remember that these repairs don't include "hidden costs" which are personnel and service labor rates. Something you will pay for without a Warranty Service. Here's the best part of the call from this AWESOME salesman. He offered me 6 year "fully transferable", rate locked for life" service policy that when divided out by 6 is LESS THAN WHAT I WAS PAYING ANNUALLY, 7 YEARS AGO!!! So, is a Home Warranty plan a safe bet??? I have a 9 word answer for those without a Choice Home Warranty service plan. YOU BET YOUR DRIPPING SWEATY BUTT CRACK IT IS!!! Props to Zach, YOU DA MAN!!! "Our microwave stopped heating and we called Service Engineering to repair. They came out promptly, ordered the part and returned upon receipt and fixed it. The LG repairman would not come make repairs unless we pulled the wall oven/microwave combo from wall so he could work on it. We thought that was absurd given the fact that the combined unit weighs too much for us to maneuver. Serhii and his son were able to pull the unit out, make repairs and reinstall it without any issues. Hard-working, super polite, and fair price wins our business!"

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Gainesville, FL

You should hire an experienced plumber for major repairs like persistent leaks, electrical faults, or complete unit replacements, as these issues require expert diagnostics and installation. For minor problems like clogs or small jams, a certified and insured handyperson can often handle the repair safely. Hiring a professional ensures the repair is done correctly, maintaining your appliance's performance and helping prevent future issues.

A garbage disposal lasts between eight and 15 years when properly maintained. Factors like frequency of use, regular cleaning, and following manufacturer guidelines can influence its lifespan. Higher-end models with stainless steel components typically last longer than budget units with galvanized components. Routine maintenance helps prevent early failures and keeps your disposal running smoothly. Avoiding problematic materials like fibrous vegetables, coffee grounds, and grease can significantly extend your disposal's operational life and efficiency.

Your garbage disposal may clog when food particles, especially fibrous or starchy materials, build up around the grinding components and block the normal flow. Dense foods like potato peels, rice, or pasta can cause blockages, especially if not flushed through with enough cold water. Regular cleaning and proper use can help prevent clogs and keep your disposal running smoothly.

Garbage disposals impact the environment by reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and by using electricity when operating. By grinding up organic waste, they decrease the volume of waste that would otherwise produce methane emissions in landfills. While they consume some energy, using efficient models and following recommended practices can manage this usage. With responsible use, garbage disposals can be an eco-friendly option.
