"Paul was upfront with all of the work that they were going to do. He communicated very welll and the employee's are dry knowledgeable. They replaced the electrical panel and informed me what I need to do before they could start. All the work went as they said it would. I will use them in the future."

"Chad from Ready Electric did an excellent job installing our EV charger. He was professional, knowledgeable, and neat, and his communication was clear and concise throughout the process. The installation looks great, worked perfectly on the first try, and was completed on time and at a fair price. I highly recommend Chad to anyone looking to add an EV charger or upgrade their home electrical system."

"The electrical panel, and mast John put up turned out great. He gave me a great price way under the other quotes I had received. Very respectful, and mindful in getting my electricity turned back on the same day. I will most definitely use him again as well recommend him to anyone that needs electrical work done. He does it right, and explains it."

"The furnace is in the attic. I asked him while he was up there to check the water pipes. We just moved into this house 6 months ago and weren't sure where the water pipes were. I wanted to check if they ran down the outside walls from the attic to the faucets and if so were they insulated. When he came down he said there were no water pipes in the attic and then said, "I'm not sure where they are. They could be in the foundation." Now even I, a non-plumber, would know that the water pipes would have to be either in the attic or the foundation. He wanted to know if he found anything wrong to just go ahead and fix it or discuss it with me. Now who would give a service repairman cart blanc to repair something. I told him I wanted a list and the price. He then proceeded to give me a long list of things that were wrong totaling over $1000. We had this house inspected less than 6 months ago, we also had AC work done in the attic in August that involved the furnace and NONE of those issues were found. Once my one year contract is expired I will not renew it nor use Baker Brothers again."

"I have had him do small repairs and he did a great job, but this time he wanted to use aluminium wire and I don't like that kind of wire, it breaks down after a few years."

"Ended up having to have a new dedicated line ran to install a three-prong outlet as there was no ground wire to the old one. They did everything very efficiently and were pleasant to talk with. Showed me everything they were doing before, during and after."

"Went perfectly. I wanted to have them mount my flat screen and hide the wires in the wall. They quoted me a price over the phone that includes the mount hardware, wiring, HDMI cables, labor, and a certified electrician to install a new electrical outlet up in the wall. They arrived on time (actually a bit early), did exactly what they set out to do, did a VERY nice and precise job, cleaned up after themselves, and charged exactly what we had agreed. This is how contractor work SHOULD be."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Gainesville, TX

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
