"Eddie was great to work with! We had a limited time frame to adhere to town inspections and Eddie and his team knew exactly what we needed and quickly got the job done. The results were great and even the inspector acknowledged the impressive repair. They were able to put a knocked out garage wall back on the foundation and repair the interior dry wall. I would recommend this company for any professional contract work due to their reasonable price, ease to work with and quality of work."

"I dealt with the owner Paul from start to finish. We had purchased all of the materials for the renovation of our bathroom as well as our master bedroom, halls and entire first floor ceiling. Paul and his crew made our entire plan come alive and completed the project in the time span they had promised. We are thrilled with how well every thing went. We had them do an additional project on the exterior of our house after completion of the interior work and this was handled as well. the few minor problems that occurred were rectified with no delay, and to our complete satisfaction."

"Ed and his team are FANTASTIC! Based on the great reviews by others on AL, I called Ed and he came to inspect our home. Although he had a busy schedule, he was able to squeeze us in quickly ( we really needed it!), and the recent storm left us dry and comfy for the first time in years! The work was first rate, and when they left, you could not tell that anything had been done- the area was pristine. I would recommend Ed for all your waterproofing needs! He really lives up to his reputation!"

"I had a terrible leak in my bathrooms in a 60 year old home. Mike over at Tumminello's quoted me an all-in price. Mike immediately realized I needed the lead pipes leading up to my toilet replaced. I knew as soon as Mike described what he wanted to do that is what I waned. Mike gave me an alternative, but I went with the full replacement choice. The other plumbers I called could only give me an hourly rate. The two guys that came to my home, Matt and Ryan, were very friendly and respectful. The work was quoted and done quickly and at a very reasonable cost. I had 2 toilets installed and leak fixed. I had my lead bends replaced; both leaked; both definitely needed replacement. Mike was very flexible on whether I wanted to install my own toilets or if I wanted him to pick them up. I told him the toilet that I was looking at, and he told me he could get a quote on a similar toilet. He saved me from having to order the toilet, and waiting a week over at HD or Lowe's. He called me back in about 10 minutes, we agreed on a toilet. My elderly father then decided he wanted his toilet changed too. I called Mike, and someone else answered, I told them I wanted to add a toilet, but with a rounded shape. The next day, Matt and Ryan arrived with both toilets. They did a great job on the toilets and the leak. I'm doing more work to my plumbing, and will definitely be using Tumminello Plumbing and Heating again. Thanks to everyone over at Tumminello's Plumbing and Heating."

"C and G Restoration addressed all of the mold issues. A crew came in, removed all sheetrock and insulation that was affected by the mold. Air scrubbers and hepa vaccums were running thought the job which just kept dust at a minimum. Truly amazing! All walls and areas that were affected were cleaned and treated. All debris was bagged and removed. The job that was done by C and G was beyond phenomenal and extraordinary. They were considerate and understanding and patient. Everything was explained to me thoroughly and all my questions were answered. At the end of the day everything was wiped clean. They were so quick and organized that I didn't even realize that the affected walls and insulation were bagged and out. I would 1,000% recommend this company. I am a very picky person who is sometimes hard to please and they exceeded my expections. I really can't say enough about how pleased I am with their work. Excellent job!"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Garden City, NY

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
