"Our 1950's kitchen was made new and modern by Rick and Kelly of Five Star cabinet refacing, for half the price of replacing the cabinets. They have a huge selection of colors and styles to choose from, and they were able to match our plans exactly. We love the all-new drawers and soft-closing doors, and the handles and hardware are beautiful. They also custom-built cabinets for the area near the fridge, and installed the microwave above the stove. It's obvious that Rick and Kelly take pride in their work. They put protection on the floors and covered the openings around the kitchen to avoid getting dust into the rest of the house. The cabinets are plumb and level, and the fit and finish are excellent. We are very happy customers, thanks again!"

"Near Me Roofing Company came and inspected and repaired our roof. He was very professional and honourable. My parents also just had a new roof installed by Near Me Roofing Company. They had a very positive experience as well. By chance, he was the person from the company who quoted the job for my parents. Both my parents and I were very happy dealing. I will only recommend and deal with Near Me Roofing Company in the future. great asset to the company. Thanks."

"My 36 year old kitchen needed a remodel. I went out and got three bids. I've never received three bids and chosen the most expensive bid before. But in looking at the two other options of using paper thin laminate, I believed the idea that 1/4 solid wood refacing was a better option, so I chose Heritage. In retrospect, I could have replaced the cabinets for a little more, but that would have been a real mess. I could not be happier with Heritage, they are real craftsman. I will say, I was turned off by the "hard-sell" approach of the salesman on the first visit and was almost going to pull the plug on the job. I don't like when someone tells me, "this price is only good for today, tomorrow it goes up". I will say that this approach cheapens the feel of what I see as a quality outfit. My advise, be straight Now on to the job. I was here for part of the work and, all of their claims of their quality, craftsmanship, punctuality and attention to detail, they followed through on, and then some. The carpenter, a young guy actually, Joel, came the first day and do not be fooled by his age or his years of experience, this guy does amazing work. He refaced all my cabinets, and also did some framing work around my two windows and a kitchen pocket door and repaired a couple of drawers for me, as well as add some glass doors to an open cabinet. Three examples of how this company goes above and beyond. He replaced a small spice drawer under my cooktop with a really nice soft-slide drawer, and I didn't specify the proper height and he didn't measure. As much my fault as his. But when they came back out to finish the framing for my pocket door, he spent several hours resetting the drawer height exactly to fit my spices. He could have said, sorry, that wasn't our responsibility, but without question, they came out and did the work so it would be perfect for me, at their expense. Second, I had a hidden button on the side of the cooktop I neglected to tell him about, so when he covered the appliances, he engaged the raisable downdraft vent and damaged the motor. Without any question, they hired an appliance repair company, came out next day and repaired it, so the job would be done by that Saturday. No questions asked. Lastly, I have a vacuum robot that I used for my new floors, the lip under the cabinets was just the wrong height such that the vacuum kept jamming under the cabinets. Joel happily ground up the height of the lip just enough so the vacuum fit under. So, bottom line, the kitchen looks perfect, the wood finish is solid, durable, beautiful, the cost was admittedly higher than I had anticipated, but what I have is a really beautiful kitchen, built exactly as I wanted it to be, the guys were punctual, responsive, always there to answer questions or concerns and never gave me a hard time and did everything they could to make this the perfect kitchen. It has been a long time since a company has been this true to their word"

"Rick came out on time for his appointment to bid our job.  He had great ideas on how to both improve the look of the kitchen as well as its' functionality.  His bid included entirely replacing our drawers, installing about 10 feet of custom sized cabinets on one side of our kitchen (to accommodate a new larger wall oven cabinet), converting an open shelf into a drawer/door base cabinet, converting a desk into a cabinet, adding a slid out drawer, and replacing the damaged pull out cutting board (which he noticed and we had forgotten about!) <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />With all this extra, Rick's bid came in at the same price as another bid to keep the cabinet boxes exactly the same and just replace doors/drawers.  I was very impressed with his professionalism and enthusiasm for his work.  He understood that we are upgrading to put the home on the market and helped with choices to keep the price reasonable.  We were all set to hire Rick when several other big problems occurred in the home (irrigation & plumbing problems) and our budget was consumed with the emergency fixes. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I would highly recommend Rick for anyone looking to improve their kitchen, his prices are as great as his ideas! <br />"

"Ian did a great job. He protected the floor and surrounding surfaces. He fixed an uneven door. He adjusted hinges. He did the job in the amount of time promised. He restored the cabinets to new appearing condition."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Gig Harbor, WA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
