"Arturo and his three-man crew did an excellent job all the way around. The edging and mulch look great. Afterward, the entire area was cleaned up and looked as if they were never there. I would recommend AQ Landscaping to anyone looking for quality work in a timely manner."

"Coast to Coast did an excellent job on tuck pointing the office portion of our office building. The building is approx. 30 years old. The office section of our building (approx. 7K sq. ft.) had water damage to the inside walls due to the bricks and mortar etc. on the outside of the building deteriorating due to rain and snow over the years. Romen came out to our office and spent a lot of time showing us what the problems were and recommending how he would make the repairs. After getting other estimates from other companies, we decided to use Coast to Coast. Work that was done on all three sides of our office building: removed all loose and cracked mortar joints/bricks without damaging the edges of the abutting masonry. Used commercial vacuums during the grinding operation so very little dust/debris was in the air. After cleaning and flushing with water and compressed air, any joints which were cut out were than filled with a special tuck pointing mortar. They grinded out the rust between the rusting I-Beams at the front of our building and sealed them to prevent further rusting. Waterproofed all brick and mortar work to prevent future water from coming inside. To be honest, there was even more work that was done ~ all by hand. This project took about a week. It's now been almost a year, and we have had no problems with water seeping in to the building. The work on the outside of the building (mortar/bricks etc.) matches the original construction, (which is nice)."

"VirgilI and his team did an outstanding job at my home. Garden beds were grossly over grown with weeds and ground cover. (New Home) my yard looks better now than the photos the realtors had from last spring. Pea Gravel installed along side of house, bushes and King Hydrangea trimmed back, reserved some areas we had mulch pulled from. Everything looks great. Will definitely recommend and look to use for future projects."

"Everything from start to finish was quite professional. If we had a question we would contact Jaime either via phone or email and he was so prompt in replying. We were in close proximity to the brick yard thus we visited it and saw all the bricks and color combinations in large layouts. However Jaimie also had samples. We were so suprised at the speed and completion of the project even though there was some rainy weather. The area was all picked up and we are so satisfied with Jaime and Brick Creations and Landscaping, Inc."

"It went very well. They brought in crews to move and spread topsoil, fill in trenches and reseed where needed. When some areas needed more seed a few weeks later, they came out again. I thought their price was extremely reasonable as they were 1/4th the cost of one of the bids we received. I would consider them again."

"Excellent. Don from Desmond Landscape was super professional in all our dealings. He responded quickly to my Angies List post about wanting a quote. His quote was one of the better quotes. I ended up getting 4-5 quotes. The project took as long as he said it would and he was onsite the dates he had agreed to. He brought a whole team to work on the project and everyone was pleasant. His team planted a tree in our parkway. Tree is great quality and large. His team also removed our concrete front walkway path and installed clay pavers. The design/pavers look fantastic. Job well done. Would definately hire again."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Gilberts, IL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
