Customers say: Quick response

"Even though Dolloff Lawncare was the ONLY business that responded to my request for services, Mr. Dolloff was very professional, kept in constant communication, came when promised and did a fantastic job of completing my project. He will also follow up occasionally to ensure that the job was finished. Not impressed with the other two companies NOT responding in any way."

"Todd and Henry could not be more fair and professional. They are prompt, transparent, and hard working. The trees they removed from my Conway property were about 40' tall and in close proximity to the house. The job went off without a hitch and the crew worked hard. I asked them to cut the oak into 18" pieces so I could use it in my stove and they did it at no extra charge. I now use them for my every day landscaping needs. I highly recommend this company for all Hardscaping services. <br />"

"My driveway was crumbling and full of pot holes. Dave came out, measured, explained my options and provided me with two quotes based on whether or not they found clay under the old driveway. They moved a stack of pallets and stacked firewood off the driveway for me so I didn't have to worry about getting that done ahead of time. The crew was fast and efficient. The driveway is beautiful and they did a great job cleaning up. I live on the same street as an elementary school and they were careful not to block traffic and to let the school buses go by as needed. I would highly recommend this company for any paving work you might need."

"My wife and I live in an old home and have had lots of work done over the years. This has given us great insight into the world of general contracting and its problems. This Fall we decided to build a new garage in place of an old barn. We already had a general contractor who would build the building but needed someone to demolish the barn, excavate, build the foundation, slab and related landscaping work. We obtained several estimates and luckily ran into Littlewoods Landscaping. James, the owner, spent many hours with us helping us decide what we would like our yard and garage to look like. Even though I already had someone else lined up to build the actual building, he was extremely easy to work with - a true gentleman. He is always available via cellphone or, if busy, would return my calls very promptly. His employees are also very friendly, organized and professional. The quality of the work is outstanding - worth every penny. <br /> I personally work with costumer service daily and realize how much Littlewoods Landscaping values its costumers - I highly recommend their services. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Tilton, NH

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
