"Our basement has a huge sloping rock in it-the foundation was built around it when the house was built in the 50's. Over the past 5-6 years, water has seeped in more and more at the top of the rock where it meets the ground right next to the foundation and rolled down the rock to the cellar floor, threatening to flow over to the finished side of the basement. First we put a new drainage system outside the house but that did not help. Five years ago we had another basement company come and they told us all we would need is a dehumidifier and that would dry up the water. We bought their big dehumidifier but nope, that did not make a dent in it, it has just gotten worse each year. I called CT Basement Systems late last fall and a very, very nice representative came, looked at the rock and the water flowing down it and was confident their system would take care of the problem. I have a friend that used them for water in her basement and she has raved about them and has never had a drop of water since her system was installed. I paid the deposit and the technicians came exactly when they said they would. They did a great job, were very professional and left the cellar area very clean in spite of all the dust that must have been generated by the jackhammering. I am very happy with the job they did. However, there has been one unexpected problem. Before the drain was put in, I had been buying absorbent socks, flood bags and all kinds of things to soak up the water. Now we just let the water course down the rock into the drain guard, which then funnels it to the sump. We discovered that some of the water drains down to our brick chimney, which abuts the big rock . Instead of continuing it's flow down the rock to the drain, some water is soaking into the gravel around the chimney and then coming out on the other side, where there is no drain guard, making puddles on the floor again. We think the rock needs a thin lip of cement to direct the flow down and away from the chimney area. So, I called the salesman. No call back. I emailed him. No reply. I called and left another message but nothing. I called the company and asked if they would give him a message to call me. No response. So, I can only surmise that they are completely uninterested in this, now that the job is done. I now have a mason coming to do the cement. It is too bad, because I was so impressed with the salesman when he came and also with the installers. I would recommend the product and the installation service beyond a shadow of a doubt. But the lack of customer service after the fact is a huge disappointment. I actually do not mind having our own mason come and do the job. If they had called me back, I would have told them that- I really just wanted to get their opinion on the problem. But they apparently just don't want to be bothered."

"Aaron Lenker add Corbin Gillichbauer of Groundworks leveled concrete walks around my corner lot in Montoursville Pa. They arrived around noon time and were finished about 5 1/2 hours later. They did their work very professionally. They did an excellent job. I would rate their work 5 of 5 stars."

"Jeff repaired/ rebuilt our crumbling lake wall.Over a 4 day period he rebuilt our wall from lake bottom up using no mortar & fitted the stones to give a natural but safe border to our yard. Even put in a set of natural stone stairs so our older dog could safely access the lake. Jeff works hard & takes pride in his work & price was reasonable as well. We are very happy we went with AJ&J Excavating !"

Update: They did come back out and sealed around where the radon
fan goes into the basement floor. However, I also had an issue with the
underground connection outside. While they were good enough to connect
the pipe system to the downspout in that corner, they did so in a way
where it is not sealed. So some water gushes out and up right next to
the house. I have called three times about this, starting at least a
month ago. Twice they never got back to me. One time they did, asked
that I email a picture, which I did immediately. Then I never heard back
again. At this point, I give up and not going to waste time calling
them again. Ill try to deal with it myself.

There has also been a
few cracks in the cement they put down in the basement. Nothing major
though, but I didnt expect cracks within the first month or two.   They
also had a major crack during the work in one of the cement wall blocks
at floor level.  Its right behind where they put the wall guard thing so
its going to be difficult for me to fix. They shouldve fixed this while
they were doing the work.

While overall I was initially pleased
with their work, but the things mentioned above they overlooked or just
dont respond to when i make mention disappointed me. If you choose them,
be vigilant with any issues you have while they are there.

Joe,  the salesman was excellent and not pushy or gimmicky like other basement waterproofing salesmen.  Explained what they recommended well.  The foreman,  I'm bad with names and don't remember it,  seemed very knowledgeable and was professional and nice,  though I must admit he was very hard to understand as he had a strong  accent.
I was initially irritated as I had thought they were going to arrive between 8 and 9 am the first day and I didn't receive a call.  They showed up close to 11. They quickly got to work and did a great job.  Though one spot they had broken a piece of a bottom concrete block on the wall and didn't patch it up.  Granted I may cover the wall eventually with a vapor barrier before finishing the basement,  I think it would've been better if they patched it.
My initial plan was for them to have the sump discharge towards the back of my property,  the Foreman talked me into going about 10 or so feet toward the front of my house instead.  His reasoning made sense as the area I had picked would've had water spill onto my neighbors property,  however my plan was to eventually extend it even further back myself after I cleared out some small trees.  My worry with his location is that a major rain or snow melt will result in a lake in my front yard too close to my house.  For the time being,  I'll see how it works out.  I may move it myself in the future if my worries turn out right.
I'm a little confused on how long I should wait to move stuff back against the walls.  Joe had told me a month while the foreman said 5 or 6 days.  I'd rather know for certain what the safe time frame is,  so I don't ruin the new concrete.
Overall,  nice clean job and the pumps work very well.  I have more water entering the basement than I thought,  as the pumps kick on twice an hour or so.

Update: I may have to call them up and have them come back. I have a radon fan going underground. I've found that they didn't completely seal around it when they put down the new concrete.

"Barn Rescue – My barn was hit by a vehicle, which broke a large post and pushed section of siding out from under the roofline, plus major damage at ground level. Brad shored it up for the winter with an array of jacks and an enormous chain to ensure the thing wouldn’t fall down till they could return in the spring. Come spring, they fully replaced the damaged section’s support members and facade, and added bracing to the attic, rendering it stronger than before. Foundation support: The sagging beams and jerry-rigged support columns in the dirt basement of our 18th century house were inadequate. They dug and poured a dozen footings and lally columns, supporting a line of new 6x6 and 9x9 beams that provide solid support to the house above. They showed up promptly every day, worked fast, and left the site clean and finished. Both Brad and Chad have a deep knowledge about old houses and the techniques that were used, and I felt my historic register property was in good hands."

FAQs for concrete foundation raise projects in Glastonbury, CT

On average, it takes two to seven days to physically raise your house. However, this does not include the preparation work, which is often the most lengthy process. The entire project, including preparation, obtaining permits, disconnecting utilities, and any subsequent landscaping, can take four to eight weeks. This timeline ensures everything is done safely and that your home remains structurally sound.

If proper safety protocols are not followed, raising a house can cause severe damage, as the process involves applying controlled force to the home's structure. The risks involved make it crucial to hire a skilled contractor who uses engineered methods to secure your home and prevent any harm to your household.

If your foundation shows signs of instability after raising your home, you might need to add structural support. A structural engineer can assess your foundation and recommend reinforcements to ensure your house stays stable and safe for the long term. Available support options include installing additional piers or pilings, reinforcing existing footings, or using steel beams to distribute the load more evenly.

You will need a structural engineer to assess your home before you begin. These professionals determine whether your house is suitable for lifting and identify any issues that could compromise its stability. Their expertise ensures that the project is designed correctly and all risks are managed to achieve a successful lift.
