"Mike and Chuck (from Mr. Handyman) arrived on time and put the swing set together properly in the time estimated. We are very happy with their work--and I plan to have them back for some home repairs!"

"No matter what problem you have, Clint is the man for the job! He not only fixed the plumbing issues I discovered during a remodel but was able to fix the electrical issues, flooring problems, install the cabinets, cut and grout backsplash tile, and fix a handful of minor issues that came up along the way. Clint is on time, dependable, courteous and respectful of your property - he even cleans up afterwards! I could not have completed this project without Clint Hatcher and highly recommend him to anyone who needs work done - you will not be disappointed!!"

"Culture marble tub surround looks great. He was very careful at measuring and installing. Prompt at communicating during all phases of the project and made valuable suggestions. Was very understanding this was the only bath in the house and made sure the toilet was working and work area was cleaned at the end of each day. Highly recommended."

"The timeline was the biggest problem.  The time it took contractor to finish the project was nearly 2.5 months from start to (almost) finish, with a single bathroom in the house. During this time, there were 2 holidays (Christmas and New Year's) and some days of inclement weather which would have prevented anyone from traveling (~3 in all). However, there was one entire week that I was on travel and returned to find zero progress had been made in that amount of time. <br /> The original estimate was $2,500 for labor only for the bathroom. There were additional items that surfaced throughout the renovation which added scope to the project that increased the labor to nearly $3,700. I provided all material for the project. <br /> Contractor requested milestone payments in advance of work being completed, to include final payment, which was made with promise from Contractor that he would return to fix minor "nit-pick" items, which never did take place. I have had to perform those items myself. <br /> Contractor would set tools in bathtub and on top of porcelain toilet, which resulted in scratches in both. In retrospect I would have requested him to place pads down. <br /> Contractor also did not lay down anything to protect the floors in the house from outside elements that were brought in on his boots (snow/rain), and that was then mixed with debris and dust from  the construction. This made it extremely difficult to clean the floors. <br /> Overall, the bathroom looks nice. When looking in detail, however, once can see where craftsmanship/attention to detail is lacking due to a rush to complete the project. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"That went just fine. The man did a good job and did some other work for us. We had him do some work in a house we own. We were very pleased with his work. The price he told me was because it was a slow time for him, in fact, he did it the day after we initially talked. I put it out there and he called me back in like 2 hours and was over here the next morning. We have been very pleased overall. We did use him again."

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse repair projects in Glen Carbon, IL

You’ll know it’s time for a new shed roof if shingles curl or buckle, soft spots sag, or water stains appear inside. Moss or other plant growth on the surface is another red flag that moisture has breached the roofing layers. Replacing the roof quickly stops leaks from spreading, protects stored items, and saves you from costlier structural repairs down the road.

Choosing between a flat and a sloped shed roof comes down to climate, budget, and upkeep. A flat roof is cheaper up front, but still needs a slight pitch for drainage. A sloped roof sheds rain and snow more easily, lasts longer, and often needs less maintenance. Weigh your local weather patterns, the look you want, and how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep before deciding.

A shed roof’s life span hinges on the material you choose and how well you maintain it. Most standard products last 15 to 30 years, while premium picks like slate or clay tile can protect the structure for 50 to 100 years. Regular inspections, fast fixes, and routine cleaning all help you reach the upper end of those ranges and keep your tools and gear dry year-round.
