Handymen Project
Bottom portion of plaster wall was once repaired with sheet of drywall. With no meaningful connection between drywall, drywall mud, and true plaster, the weight of the old plaster above, with nothing to hold onto, or to hold it, collapsed.

"We originally hired a different company who caused damage to my house and none of their work passed inspection. Virginia Home Renovations not only fixed the extensive damage caused by the first company but did an amazing job finishing the renovations we wanted in the first place! I'm soooooo happy with my home now!"

"I have used Terry for several years to do all types of home improvement. He remodeled my moms bathroom , my master bathroom, built new cabinets, installed new floors, crown molding, wainscoting, fixed and repaired drywall, painted my interior of my house and this is only the inside. He replaced my gutters, exterior doors, damaged hardy boards, dry rotted wood, and installed a new deck on the exterior. He is a jack of all trades and does great, quality work."

"I used N Chasen & Son to stain my decks and paint some trim. I worked with Justin and Denise to coordinate the job and they were great, but most of my emails were to Justin. Since I live out of state from the location of my property, Justin coordinated most of the job for me. He answered all my questions, kept me updated, and emailed me photos of the job for my review. The Chasen crew did an excellent job with the painting and staining, I am happy with the quality of their workmanship."

"Having our entire 1942 sq. ft. townhome painted by Top Gun was such a positive experience. Our initial contact was with Mr. Williamson, co-owner, who exuded professionalism and exemplary customer service through out the entire process. The same can be said about the crew leader, Miguel and his crew. Top Gun took the time to carefully move furniture and blinds and covered everything. It was impressive to watch them paint without taping anything and the lines are precise! Therefore, allowing them to minimize their time in the home. For us, it was about 1.5 days for each painting project. The crew did a phenomenal job cleaning up once the job was completed. Also, their pricing was competitive to other estimates, better than some. We are extremely pleased with the job Top Gun did for us and we highly recommend them."

"Rick did a great job on my flooring at a reasonable price. I called him again when I needed some ceiling and wall repairs. He was again reasonable and easy to work with and did a great job."

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse repair projects in Richmond, VA

You’ll know it’s time for a new shed roof if shingles curl or buckle, soft spots sag, or water stains appear inside. Moss or other plant growth on the surface is another red flag that moisture has breached the roofing layers. Replacing the roof quickly stops leaks from spreading, protects stored items, and saves you from costlier structural repairs down the road.

Choosing between a flat and a sloped shed roof comes down to climate, budget, and upkeep. A flat roof is cheaper up front, but still needs a slight pitch for drainage. A sloped roof sheds rain and snow more easily, lasts longer, and often needs less maintenance. Weigh your local weather patterns, the look you want, and how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep before deciding.

A shed roof’s life span hinges on the material you choose and how well you maintain it. Most standard products last 15 to 30 years, while premium picks like slate or clay tile can protect the structure for 50 to 100 years. Regular inspections, fast fixes, and routine cleaning all help you reach the upper end of those ranges and keep your tools and gear dry year-round.
