"Shreve Construction Company is a very professional contractor to work with. They demonstrated excellent craftsmanship in numerous projects in my home. I had an incomplete porch project started by another company. I contacted Shreve Company . They came to my home, assessed the situation, figured out how to fix the mistakes that were made by the other company and developed a plan keeping my dream vision in mind. I now have a beautiful 3 season room. It was a pleasure to work with Shreve . I plan to use their services for other home projects."

"We have used Darrell on several projects now and have been very satisfied with the quality of his work, and find he is very easy to work with.  He draws on many years of experience building and repairing homes, and has a very good understanding of how to work on an older house like ours (1901).  He is also very versatile, and seems to be able to handle almost any project we throw at him.  Best of all, he knows his limitations and makes recommendations for specialists (like an electrician and a drywall guy) to bring in when he feels they can do a better / faster job. <br /> <br />"

"Mark is excellent. He came out to look at and bid 2 projects we're planning to do over the next 2-3 years. Full kitchen & bath remodels. He had excellent ideas, he was prompt, courteous, professional, and very quick to get back to us with the bids and a few other ideas. We're very excited about the projects and have been waiting for one other bid to come through - but we will likely use him for both projects.  Especially since we've been waiting over a month just to get the bid bac on the other A rated contractors. <br />"

"Inch by Inch renovated our basement. It, at one point, had plywood for walls, but now mostly had been insulation that was falling down, ancient carpet, scarily old wiring: it was not just gross but probably dangerous. Andy and his contractors with Inch by Inch made it not just functional and safe but gorgeous. They tore it down completely and rebuilt: flooring, walls, ceiling, wiring... The basement may now be the best room in our house. He listened to our needs and concerns at every point; he was very responsive to questions; everyone was punctual and thoughtful. I also feel like his prices are very reasonable for the high quality they deliver. I could not be happier. Recommend them very highly! We're hiring them again to add a bathroom in the basement."

"During the last rainstorm the downspouts and drainage worked quite well. The grass started growing after about four days. The edging and mulching make the lawn look so much nicer! I do want to add that the weather played a big part in when Jeff could get the project started. Also, Jeff was very easy to talk to about what I wanted done and he had helpful suggestions which I hadn't thought of."

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse repair projects in Harrisburg, PA

You’ll know it’s time for a new shed roof if shingles curl or buckle, soft spots sag, or water stains appear inside. Moss or other plant growth on the surface is another red flag that moisture has breached the roofing layers. Replacing the roof quickly stops leaks from spreading, protects stored items, and saves you from costlier structural repairs down the road.

Choosing between a flat and a sloped shed roof comes down to climate, budget, and upkeep. A flat roof is cheaper up front, but still needs a slight pitch for drainage. A sloped roof sheds rain and snow more easily, lasts longer, and often needs less maintenance. Weigh your local weather patterns, the look you want, and how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep before deciding.

A shed roof’s life span hinges on the material you choose and how well you maintain it. Most standard products last 15 to 30 years, while premium picks like slate or clay tile can protect the structure for 50 to 100 years. Regular inspections, fast fixes, and routine cleaning all help you reach the upper end of those ranges and keep your tools and gear dry year-round.
