"Fantastic! Michael and his Dad Scott are the best. I had an old wheelchair ramp and no fence at my new home. They tore down the ramp and put in wood stairs and a small wood picket fence. Michael designed a plan that maximized every inch of space. I have a beautiful porch, stairs and fence. My little dog loves her new yard! When it was finished I even had a small patio space! They showed up on time, kept me informed every step of the way and cleaned up. Honest work at an honest price! I'm glad to have met and hired them!"

"Donny was so wonderful to have in our home, we were very fortunate to have found him. We were looking to repair some drywall in the ceiling that had water damage, a pipe had busted in the master bedroom - of all places - and we were looking to place the home on the market. The job wasn't easy. We have vaulted ceilings and the master has a recessed cavity to elevate the ceiling for the bed and the pipe had busted on the corner of this recess: on the L-shaped portion of the ceiling. We weren't in a rush, because we wanted the job done right and after several inquiries with other companies, we found Donny: he was available to quote, skilled with a lot of experience for his age, and he gave us a very agreeable price along with a timely completion date. Everyday he showed up early, not on-time: early, was always in a very good mood and was an all-around good guy. The drywall looks fantastic now, and we're very proud to share with people who repaired it. Donny is highly recommendable, experienced, professional and deeply appreciated by me and my family. Thank you for your great work, Donny!"

"Itâ s not just the price and quality of the finished work thatâ s important, but also the speed at which the work is completed. Dustin moves quickly, but carefully, and my household wasnâ t disrupted much at all. Dustin is also very pleasant, funny, and quick to figure things out!"

"After purchasing an Angie's List Deal, I received the measuring kit in the mail promptly. The template and instructions provided to draw my split table top and each of the leaves were easy to use and understand. I mailed the completed materials and received the table pads very quickly. The table splits in the middle to allow insertion of up to 3 additional leaves. The table also has 2 drop leaves. That's 7 pads. All fit perfectly. I have used them on the table for family parties (not every day) and they're durable and built to last. I keep them in the box they arrived in to protect them when not in use. These are a worthwhile investment."

"Ed, the Tech arrived on time, inspected old (17 yr) opener that was not working and found that the motherboard, or the whole unit, would need to be replaced. Decided that after 17 years of use, it would be better to replace the old unit. Ed installed Liftmaster 8365 Premium Series 1/2HP AC Motor with 7' Chain Rail and tuned the rollers"

"Excellent, timely and reasonable pricing. We gave them an idea of what we wanted for a custom Cabinet and a few examples and they took off with it and created exactly what we wanted and better!"

FAQs for wood stairs and railings installation and replacement projects in Glendale, AZ

Pressure-treated lumber is the most inexpensive deck railing material. It's a cost-effective option that offers a good balance of durability and affordability for budget-conscious homeowners. Pressure-treated wood meets essential safety standards while keeping upfront costs low. In contrast, vinyl, polyurethane, and composite materials tend to be more expensive but offer additional aesthetic and maintenance benefits.

To calculate how much deck railing you need, measure the length of all the edges of your deck where railings are required (excluding any openings or areas bordered by the house). Since precise measurements are crucial, it's a good idea to hire a professional. Contractors have the expertise to accurately measure and install your deck railings.

In most cases, safety standards require railings on steps with more than four risers, steps wider than 44 inches, and decks over 30 inches high, measured from the next level down.

Railings should also be between 34 and 38 inches tall. Regulations can vary based on your location, so it's important to check your local building codes or consult a local contractor. There are also rules about the size of the gaps between pickets and between the bottom of the railing and the deck.

Before installing a railing on your front porch, you'll need to check local permitting requirements. Local building authorities may have specific codes that require a permit—or, in some cases, no permit at all. Reviewing your city's guidelines and consulting a qualified professional will help ensure your project meets all legal and safety standards, preventing any unexpected issues during inspections.

Deciding whether to repair or replace your deck railings depends on the extent of the damage and whether you can match new materials to the old ones. If you have minor issues, repair might be an option. However, when it's challenging to match existing materials, replacing the railings can give your deck a fresh start and reset its lifespan. A decking expert can assess your railings and recommend the best course of action to improve safety and maintain a cohesive look.
