"We had an annual electrical inspection. Tech., Deonte, was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Any work he did or recommended was fully explained. We have had a new panel installed and other work done by Asbury Electric in a previous home. Highly recommend them. Reasonably priced and excellent work"

"My experience with Jason and his partner was great, and they did a wonderful job with the install of my light/ceiling fixture. The only reason why I did not give a full 5 stars is because I wish the company had more price transparency or a page where I could have seen how much the job could cost (a price range would have been fine) based on whatever factors ahead of time. It costs $90 for someone to look at the project, then they tell you once they’re there what the full cost will be, so I kind of felt like it’d be a waste of money not to hire them at that point. Again, the technicians were great, just wish more possible pricing information was available ahead of time."

"We had an old electrical panel replacement/upgrade. Daniel was able to come out for a quote the day after we called and said they could schedule us immediately due to the issues we were having. The day after, Ricky showed up at 830am and immediately started. He was professional, friendly and became a part of our family today. I believe it was Jace that accompanied him, who was equally professional and friendly. Top notch and will hire again if I ever need anything else again. Great value for the money, walked us through everything and when they left we were very satisfied. Quality work!"

"The project was extremely challenging. The hidden wiring under the floor would not budge, so the new wiring had to be routed a new way. Daniel did a great job figuring out how to do it so it looked good. Nice! They even worked during a tropical storm, in a houseboat. We discovered there were no GFI's at the last minute, and they installed them immediately. Throughout the project, Daniel understood the complex schematics instantly, and was not flustered as obstacles kept popping up. He re-wired the new panel like he had been doing those same boat panels every day! Great attitude and work ethic and professionalism."

"Jake was able to correct the complex wiring problem, even despite original 1938 wiring and cramped attic access. I was able to book an appointment online within 24 hours. I would not hesitate to hire these guys again for any electrical work big or small!"

"Hired them to add undersink outlet, add outlets to put kitchen island and an outside floodlight junction box under our eaves. Andrew was extremely quick to respond to my call, came out same day for quote and performed the work within 2 days. Friendly, honest, and he pointed out some issues for us to keep an eye on in the future with our circuit breaker panel (it s getting hot and may need to be changed out in future). No pressure for the additional work as many would have done. I am very glad I found Bush Electric and I ll be using him for my future requests and recommend to all my friends. Thanks for everything Andrew!!"

"Well we were going to do a ground mount using re-purposed
metal, but there was not enough of it. So Renewable Engineered Systems designed
a system for the roof of the house. We Worked with Brian Brown who helped us
decide what to use.   The solar panel
system is very neat. Get to watch my power everyday.

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Gloucester Point, VA

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
