"My kitchen looks great. The counter tops needed replacing, the cabinets were fading and coming off the walls in several places, I needed new appliances, and the walls and cabinets needed new paint and backsplash. Ryan’s remodeling took care of it all, and it looks as good as new! The guy was punctual, knowledgeable, and got it done in a weekend. I would definitely use them again for any other projects I have."

"Once the estimate came in, we got with Ed on a different cabinet that would be more in our budget, it took a week or more for us to get together with him to give our okay to the new cabinet.  Once I did this, Ed was suppose to send us a new estimate.  After no response for about 2 weeks we decided to start interviewing other contractors.  We would have hired Jim Hicks for our kitchen remodel, but the lack of communication is what killed if for us.  I emailed on several occasions to want to talk about the estimate and put the finishing touches on it and move forward.  But not response.  We decided on another company, then we heard from Jim, he wanted to know if he had everything we needed and where we were at with our decision.  At this point, I explained to him that it had been 25 days later since we last heard from anyone and because of the lack of communication we thought you were not interested in our remodel and have since found another company.  I wish we could have worked it out.  I'm always wanting to help fellow veterans when possible, but in case we were not.  I would consider giving  him another chance in the future.

"Overall I am satisfied with the work that was done in my home.
Ben Meffley the Owner of Sky home improvement came to my home and gave me a better estimate than the previous company. I decided to go to a store to pick out the flooring myself and Ben went out of his way to pick it up for me.
He did a fantastic  job installing the floor, and tried to be considerate in cleaning up any mess left behind.
The floors look wonderful, and I couldn't be happier"

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in Gloucester Point, VA

Rental sanders can address moderate surface damage, but their effectiveness depends on scratch depth and overall floor condition. Drum sanders offer the most aggressive removal capability for deeper imperfections. However, if the damage extends into the wood structure or affects large portions of the floor, board replacement by an expert might be necessary before sanding. Consult a flooring professional for help.

Always thoroughly review the manufacturer's operating instructions before starting. Wear appropriate safety gear, including goggles to protect your eyes and a respirator to prevent inhalation of dust. Inspect electrical components before each use to prevent shock hazards. Keep children and pets away from the work area, and maintain a clean space by frequently vacuuming dust accumulation to prevent slipping and to ensure you can see well.

Sandpaper requirements depend on floor size, condition, and the sanding approach. Plan to use multiple grit levels (coarse, medium, and fine) with at least one to two sheets per 100 square feet for each grit. Floors with significant damage or multiple finish layers will require more coarse-grit sheets. Purchase extra supplies before beginning because running out mid-project can cause visible inconsistencies in the final result.
