"Needed some gravel laid down on my 160 ft long driveway. Received a very reasonable estimate within a matter of days. Didn't even shop around I was so satisfied with the quote. Work was performed quickly within a week or so...about a 3 hour job to scrape, grade, and install fresh gravel. Brought a 4-man crew and all necessary equipment. Quick and easy invoicing with card credit card and bank transfer options. I would definitely recommend this contractor! Thank you Bear Creek!"

"We checked around a few granite businesses that were vague on pricing or did not respond to questions. We went into Pro Granite and immediately appreciated the customer service and well organized showroom. Anna was very helpful showing us around and upfront about pricing, she even gave us a printout of our project with the costs of different pieces of granite. Very reasonably priced! Less than the big box stores. We decided on one kind and they pulled out those slabs for us to select the exact one we wanted. Excellent communication and punctuality from the templating appointment to the installation, always arriving about 5 minutes early in fact. Vinnie and Ivan did a meticulous job, their dedication to their craft shows through in the finished project. Recommend 100%."

"Bob was able to fit my one day job in between other jobs he had, and did what I could not have. Clean cut lines and a lot of dirt moved, in less than 8 hours. The work he did was very helpful to the end results of not only the project I am currently working on (to expand my current driveway), but also another project that I have planned for the future (to reduce the steep grade of the rest of the back yard)."

"Sia and his crew did a stellar job on my new concrete driveway conversion from gravel and block planter wall in front of the house! After a prompt free estimate and due diligence, I found Step Up's estimate to be the most competitive and fairly priced. They were always very communicative and promptly showed up when they said they would everyday. Throughout the whole process, they kept the work area clean during the day and at the end of the day before leaving. In the end, both the concrete driveway and block wall turned out great, couldn't be happier with their work!"

"Pelican Landscaping has been our go-to company for all of our landscaping needs. They’ve helped transform our yard through their regular yard maintenance, as well as installed a new patio in our backyard. We’ll continue to use them for all of our landscaping needs and highly recommend them."

"Great outcome! Had 3 1/2 acres of scotch broom and he came in with the big bobcat that had a cutter wheel on the front. He cut it down and then mulched it as he went. Sure beats cutting it all by hand!"

"We had System Pavers build us new front stairs and a pathway up to the house, as well as install some stair lighting, path lights, and landscape lights. The process was thorough and informative. At every point we felt we could easily contact our consultant Lori or foremen (Anthony and Andrew) to get quick answers, and we trusted their expertise. Our new stairs and path have made guest entry to our home so much safer and more welcoming. The crews did great work and the foremen checked in regularly to make sure everything was going according to plan. We'd recommend System Pavers without reservation!"

"We needed a company who had the knowledge and skill to handle this project. We also needed professional advice on product and types of fabrication options. We interviewed several potential providers. There was no comparison between Orca and everyone else. Orca did everything agreed upon and all was done perfectly. The team was professional, courteous, and timely. The fabrication work was just beautifully done with exceptional skill. From the owner, to the office staff, to the installation crew, every single Orca person was great to work with - knowledgeable, helpful, and skilled. Orca is our only choice for this type of work in the future."

"It went great. Cameron showed up at the appointed time. He arrived in a company vehicle. He was professional and friendly. He took his time to listen to our needs and to look over the property. He even walked across the road with me so I could show him how a constantly clogged ditch impacts us during the rainy season. He gave me ideas and solutions to problems that I thought were insurmountable. With his help, I could imagine what it was that I wanted and needed and how it could be accomplished. The job was so overwhelming to me before this that it seemed like we'd be moving mountains. I told him that we probably won't be starting the project for a year and he didn't suddenly drop his interest like some might. He said it would be the perfect time for it since the rainy season is coming and we'd like it to be as dry as possible. <br /> He took all of the measurements and along with what we had talked about he went home and drew up a proposal with line by line description and cost for each stage of the project. I think I got it just a day or two after we met. It was very helpful and worth the $99 to have him come and walk through it with me. We're still shopping but, in the end, I hope we do have Cameron and his team tackle this big job for us. <br />"

"Pedro called me same day I put in a request for quotes, and was able to come by to do an estimate within just a day or so. He is very friendly and his estimate was fair, and covered everything we needed done. We quickly called back to set up and initial cleaning and then a bi-weekly service. The team arrived early in the day and was able to complete all tasks in just a few hours. The yards look amazing, and the blackberry removal really opened up our space. I would highly recommend this company for any and all lawn services"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Puyallup, WA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
