"Stefan Korn and his crew removed and replaced all of the rotted and ripped screen-panel walls and doors that made up our screened porch with his far superior screen/frame products -- dog-proof screen on the lower panels and regular screen on the top. He and his crew performed the work in an exceptionally professional and timely fashion and somehow managed to keep everything remarkably neat and tidy during the process. We couldn't be more pleased with the finished product. We also truly enjoyed working with Stefan and his men. They have our highest recommendation. Their work is worth every penny."

"Lorenzo has done multiple jobs for our family in the past four years. Most recently, he installed a closet and helped us assemble a standing conference table. The table top was damaged during transport and after multiple attempts from the company to deliver an undamaged product, we decided to hire Lorenzo for his advice to fix multiple damaged tabletops. He not only helped us but had ideas to make the tabletop look even better. What’s our next project? He is building us a reading bench for our office. We have recommended Lorenzo to friends all around town. I’m always happy to pass his name to people who have home projects big or small because I know he will get the job done quickly and efficiently at a reasonable price."

"Jim and his team were knowledgable, professional and very thorough in their work.  We are very pleased with the results.  Jim is creative and finds a way to get things done when faced with challenges.  We had a 2nd story window which was difficult to reach due to landscape and Jim handled it smoothly and with no problem.  His team was conscientious and took their time to make sure each opening was done properly to insure a weatherproof installation.  We highly recommend Trust Builders LLC and are making arrangements to use them again on a basement remodel."

"Great! I had them look at my gutters about adding flashing and they showed that the original contractor did not install flashing at all! Behind my gutters Also showed me the improper work done by the people that repaired my roof. I really appreciate their honesty and excellent work Would use again and highly recommend."

"Honest. Honest. Honest. Joe Sabia worked with us to quote out the installation of 13 windows in our home. I received quotes from some of the big window installers too (those that spend lots of money on advertising, who also came highly recommended). Joe was extremely upfront with us about our options. He even suggested some locally respected window installers to check with for a comparison quote. In the end, the price he provided was extremely competitive and the window that was installed has worked out perfectly. <br /> Every call or email sent in was returned promptly and every appointment made, happened on time or a few minutes early. The installers (John, Nick, Jim and Jose) showed up on time on the day of the big installation. They installed 13 windows (meticulously) in just 5.5 hours. They were easy to communicate with, respectful of the space and left our house spotless. The aluminum wrapping on the outside of the house was done by John, who took his time to make sure it was done correctly (and it looks really great!). <br /> My wife and I could not be happier with our decision to go with Torrington Sash and Door. 75 years in business speaks volumes and perhaps honesty is their best quality. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Granby, CT

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
