"Wade and his team did great work. They showed up on time, got me involved in their plan for the day, asked a few questions and then got to it. The work was terrific, quick, and they cleaned up after themselves. Will definitely rehire them. "

Small jobs welcome

"Hired for a large job (complete house rewire) after their quote came in the lowest out of several companies. The first meetings with the owner, Tim, went well. However, Tim was barely present at the worksite, and there was a lack of communication between his workers. The vast majority of work was completed by young apprentices who were not experienced. Interior and exterior holes were drilled in incorrect locations, trim permanently damaged, huge bags of trash left on the floor, and wires left cut without a replacement line. There was one spot they said they couldn't run a line to, that my girlfriend and I ended up doing in about half an hour. It felt like if we didn't make a big fuss out of everything that went wrong they would have happily left them as is. There are even some things STILL unresolved as they were found after paying TE in full. Overall I cannot recommend their services. If you do hire them, better babysit them to make sure you really get what you're paying for."

FAQs for electrical switches, outlets & fixtures install or repair projects in Grand Rapids, MI

To select and hire an electrician for your light switch installation, start by evaluating candidates as you would for any skilled position. Ask detailed questions, request a written quote, and verify their licensing credentials. This careful screening prevents unexpected fees and ensures every aspect of the installation, including any drywall repairs, complies with code.

A light switch can malfunction due to compromised wiring or overheating conditions. Faulty connections and excess heat diminish the switch’s performance. If you hear crackling, popping, or hissing sounds when toggling the switch, this indicates active electrical faults that pose a safety hazard and demand immediate professional inspection. Prompt attention prevents further damage and ensures reliable operation.

Installing a light switch takes 30 minutes or less, on average. The installation time depends on the switch type, with dimmer switches requiring additional time compared to standard on-off switches. While the hardware replacement might be completed in 15 minutes, it's essential to adhere to safety protocols, like turning off the circuit breaker and verifying there's no power, for a safe and code-compliant installation.
