"I hired Tim and his crew to replace an old shingle roof, add gable eaves and to install shingle roof with an attic fan. They removed the old roof in one day and left the property cleaner than before they started, which was outstanding! They stayed busy over the next couple of days and completed the work on time and the quality was excellent. I intend to call them again soon when the rest of my remodel is needed. I recommend Pacific Builders."

"<p>I contacted Darren Doehring about a master bathroom remodel. He was very responsive and brought both a plumber and electrician to evaluate what the remodel would entail. He provided an estimate and after questions from me, a re-estimate. While I feel the job would have been very well done by this contractor his price was higher than the contractor I ultimately hired.</p> <br />"

"Vasiliy is an amazingly talented craftsman with many talents and years of experience. Our nearly 100 year old deteriorating brick chimney was leaking water into the interior of the house and had to be repaired. Vasiliy came highly recommended to me by one of the best contractors in Portland, and I called upon him to fix it. The chimney was red brick, but Vasiliy suggested a lighter, golden color brick as it was more economical. Since our house is yellow, the golden color looked even better than red brick would have, and I saved money. The chimney is beautiful, and the repair/rebuild was so well done that Ithink it will last another 100 years,"

"Awesome !!!!! We had an old tile shower with the 3 Handel's in the middle. Dove Removed all of the shower, plumbing ,tile. Put down drop cloths every day. Cleaned up every day. I told him he didn't have to we would just shut the door, but he told me he did every job the way he would like to see it done in his own home !! Took him 3 and a half days. Now We have an all new shower in marble, with a single handle Moen shower valve, grab bars, soap caddy, seat, and clear glass shower doors. Job took 3 and a half days. Such a beautiful and clean job that we didn't even have to paint or replace the flooring. In one word.....Beautiful"

"Robert Pendrey and his team appeared on time, then thoroughly prepped the old surface. After removing the window screens, John even washed all the windows. He power washed our chimney and, for a nominal fee, even our sidewalks and patio! He and his team painted our home beautifully (two coats) and left everything spic and span. What a treat. His fee was $6,200 and we could not be more pleased with the job. Thanks, Robert."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Grants Pass, OR

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
