"Tim promptly reached out and set up an estimate appt for replacing my sump pump system. Was very informative and explained the recommended job details well and clearly. Seemed fairly priced compared to other quotes. Was on time for install appt, explained the system and showed me the sensors/light functions. Exceeded expectations. Would recommend Tim/Drains Inc to family and friends. "

"I have been dealing with sewer smell, sewer back-up, and rats in my basement for many months without much progress after multiple contractors and plumbers. I began the screening process again and found Tim to listen and problem-solve better than any other professional. He expertise really came through at multiple stages of the project. During his camera scope he identified problems not previously picked up. During the repair phase he talked me through the process and was very thorough and organized in his work. During final phase, he came back to hydrojet and rod the entire sewer system out to the city line, provided additional repairs to broken waters lines and gaps in the concrete floor. In the end, Tim did a major repair digging out our front yard to access and repair the sewer line. The majority of the smell has dissipated and, for the first time, I have some peace of mind."

"Amazing customer service and professionalism. We have used Toptec Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical, Inc. several times over the years and we have never gone wrong. I love that you are given a quote upfront before any work is completed. You will not be blindsided you are with an honest team of professionals who are always upfront about costs. We called for a leaking pipe, we were seen the same day. When the technician arrived he was able to find the leak, in a very tight spot, and fix it in no time. The tech also uncovered the source of the problem. In a short afternoon he had our pipes working and up to code. The techs even wear little shoe covers to keep your floors clean. I wouldn’t call anyone else, Toptec always wows. I am so grateful for their amazing work and prompt service!"

"I've hired Code Plumbing in 2012 for water line repair in my attic. Ray was very quick, very efficient, and he didn't rip me off. I am very pleased with Code's work. And I had just used his service to have my sewer drain cleaned or rodded and have a shut off valve installed on my water line for outside of my house to keep people from stealing my water. Excellent!"

Small jobs welcome

"I had a great experience with this sewage company. They came out quickly, cleared my main line, and used a camera to show me exactly what was going on—I had tree branches causing the blockage. I really appreciated how they took the time to explain everything and made sure I understood the issue. Very professional, efficient, and honest service from start to finish."

"Mario did an excellent job, we are beyond happy with the outcome of our basement. The work that he has done includes, installing a new gas line, installing a new sink, cutting and trimming overgrown roots which were creating a blockage, and inspecting our outside drain. So far so good thank you for the outstanding job! "

FAQs for sewer main install, replace or repair projects in Grayslake, IL

When installing a sewer line, you should consider extra costs like tree removal, driveway repairs, or patio resurfacing. Hiring a professional plumber is essential, and you may need additional specialists if landscaping or heavy excavation is involved. Addressing these potential extras up front helps ensure accurate budgeting and prevents sudden cost overruns.

To calculate the length of sewer piping you need, measure the distance from your house to the main sewer line, adding the depth of the city main to this distance. Be sure to account for any obstacles like tree roots or utility lines that may require additional piping.

City sewer lines are installed at a lower elevation to prevent unwanted backflow and water damage. This lower positioning ensures enhanced performance and long-term safety, meeting all technical and safety standards.

With trenchless methods, a plumber inserts a smaller pipe within the existing plumbing, avoiding full excavation. It can be more cost-effective and less disruptive than traditional methods, but it's not suitable for all homes.

Yes, you must secure permission from your local water authority before connecting to a public sewer line. This approval ensures your connection meets all regulatory requirements.

Sewer lines are buried between 18 inches and 8 feet deep, with most systems placed between 18 and 30 inches. In colder regions, pipes are set deeper to remain below the frost line.
