Victor Herrera from A-Z Appliance Pro identified the problem, solved the problem, and confirmed that the "defective part" had its functioning impeded by icicles that were not supposed to form behind the panel protecting it--a design flaw! This refrigerator is and has always been a "lemon," he confirmed. For five years we were lied to by Sears and the company that carried their warranty contracts (by the way, they don't really cover food loss claims either). Mr. Herrera could have charged us nearly $400 to replace a part that was not defective, and we would have never been the wiser. Instead, he was honest, straight-forward and only charged us for a reasonable service call, plus, he gave us same day service."

"From what I read on several repair discussion sites, it appeared that electronic parts were no longer available for our oven. So I called ATS (an authorized Dacor servicer), explained how I shorted the oven and asked a technician if it was true that parts were unavailable. If so, then it would do no good to have him out to diagnose the problem. He said that some parts (specifically the relay boards) WERE available and likely the cause, so I scheduled him to come take a look. In less than 10 minutes, after merely fiddling with the key pad a bit, he proclaimed there were likely several parts damaged, but he did no in-depth diagnosis to pinpoint the problem(s). He said he'd call me the next business day after determining what parts were available. He did call and guess what, there were NO parts whatsoever available for that oven, just as I feared. I just wasted $75 and a morning at home for the service call. The positives--he arrived within the scheduled window, was courteous and did call back as promised."

"I was referred to Jeff from a highly recommended repairman that did not cover the area that the service was needed in(Vail). I had to leave a message on Jeff's phone but he called back very quickly. He worked with my renter to fit his schedule and then called me back to discuss what he thought might be the problem after talking with the renter. He thought the refrigerator might have 2 problems. Once he looked at the fridge in person he was able to troubleshoot the problem and replace only one component. He could have just as easily said both were broken and charged me extra. I appreciate his honesty. Another thing that I like about Jeff's service was that he guarantees his work. If his repair didn't work he would take care of it. The part came with a 1 year warranty.
