"Phenomenal Company, Rob, Hayley, and the rest of the crew are great! Had them strip top vegetation, install gravel and pack it down making it ready for paving. They also took down 6 huge trees for us, removed the root balls, filled in holes, and hauled it all away. Easy to work with, Great Work, Great Pricing. 10 STARS."

"Our yard was completely torn up. We had removed some raised beds and we wanted to clear the space of overgrowth and have a simple patio area with lawn. It was like a jungle back there and the guys cleared it out in no time. They prepared the ground, laid a beautiful patio and sod. It was a pleasure working with Robb and his team"

"It went beautifully.  The granite looks better than when it was installed 15 years ago.  He did a tremendous job.  He was prompt and courteous in responding to my inquiry. He gave great advice on how best to repair the granite and recommended only what services were needed.  He was very prompt in making the service appointment and was very punctual.  He was at my house the entire day and was very amiable, professional and tidy.  I would highly recommend him for any job.  Brian is a very likable, professional and conscientious businessman.  His services were of great value and his fees great value those services. <br />"

"We wanted a complete overhaul of our tiny backyard; creating a new patio closer to the house, tearing out all the plants from the beds and planting new; installing sod in the back yard AND the front. Integrity had great suggestions for low-maintenance landscaping and how to create privacy for an area where we wanted to install a hot tub. They weren't the cheapest bid (nor the most expensive) - but they gave us the most confidence and were the best communicators. They always called or emailed us back within a day throughout the process. The crew was on time and completed all the work within 3 days! We couldn't be happier with the result and we highly recommend Integrity!"

"I have used Custatis Construction Co for another concrete job and was so impressed that I hired them again to remove my old concrete driveway and replace it with a new one including building a retaining wall. Even with the variants in weather Marcus Custatis and his crew arrived on the day we scheduled months before. This was a three day project involving removing approximately 1800 sq ft of concrete, installing a compacted gravel base, rebar and finally 5" of low chert concrete. Near the end of day 2 I decided to add a retaining wall. This was no issue for Marcus. He obtained the needed materials and finished the wall as well as the last concrete pour on day three. The crew replaced all the grass originally dug out for placing the forms. The driveway looks great. Now I don't want anyone to use it! Marcus Cusatis and his crew were excellent."

"<p>They removed every inch of debris and did so incredible quickly.  Exceeded my expectations.   They also were careful to replace our former cat's memorial garden statue while replacing the wood chips we had at the base of the bushes.  I especially appreciated that they pulled onto the gravel road next to our property rather than pulling into our drive-way.  They did this on their own so they would not have to worry about damaging my son's car parked in the driveway.</p> <p> Would definitely call them again anytime I had any bush, shrub or tree concerns.</p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"Wonderful experience with Planted, LLC! We had Penny design and install complete landscape plants around our entire pool deck, beds on side of house, and even a large bed at a commercial property we own. What we loved about Penny's designs is that they are different then the cookie cutter designs you will get from most landscape companies. She will listen to your likes/dislikes, and then make fantastic recommendations based on setting, colors, etc. She has an amazing eye for design backed by extensive knowledge! The install process was painless -- she and her crew take great care (even going above and beyond by cleaning up and pruning some existing plants to make them look nice even though they didn't have to). She provides clear after care instructions, and is always available to answer questions - we had a few plants that we weren't sure if we were watering too much, too little, etc -- so we sent her a text with pictures of the plant and followed her instructions and fixed the issues! Stands by her work. We would highly recommend and have asked her to design and install additional areas of our yard!"

"Dennis did a great job fixing up our 120 ft gravel driveway. I wish I had taken a 'before' photo now. When he stopped by for the estimate (on a Sunday no less), he talked to us to get a good understanding of what we needed and what we wanted. He took the time to fully understand the job at hand. And we couldn't be happier with the result. <br /> He's very passionate about doing the job right and listening to the needs of the customer. Something you don't see so much anymore. I think some of them could take some lessons from Dennis. Customer service goes a long way in making sure the customer gets what they're looking for and making them happy. Which ultimately makes for repeat business and good word of mouth. Like here on Angie's List. <br />"

"After a year in our house, we learned our backyard floods in the spring and basement drips. We had several visits with landscapers and water mitigation groups, also our Village. Trenching and drain tiles were often recommended at a huge cost, and also requiring us to remove most trees on our property and create a swale between us and our neighbor. So expensive. We wanted a solution that could give our spring water a place to go, without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars and destroy our yard. <br /> What I appreciate most is that Kevin and his team were willing to work with us and our budget to find a solution to make it better. We're not fixing it entirely, but we're working to make it better and saving cost. His consultative services, ideas and availability were really great. Communication was quite good, cost was fair and work was done professionally and quickly. <br /> Out of all the landscapers, Hill & Valley was a mid-point on cost, and most willing to customize and work with us to find a middle ground for our problem. Some groups wouldn't even consider our project unless we tiled. So, I most appreciate their willingness to work with us. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Greenfield, WI

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
