"It went very well. We cannot recommend this company highly enough. From our first contact with Jamien at the estimate to the day they finished the new driveway, everyone was professional, polite, and efficient. We were having a lot of other projects done at our house at the same time, and they were very flexible about scheduling and very understanding about cost concerns. We had 3 companies give us estimates (we called a 4th but they never got back to us) and Beiler Brothers came though hands down the best price. But that was not the only reason we chose them. We appreciated Jamien's description of what would happen and his reassuring, quiet manner in addressing our questions and concerns. The crew was polite, efficient, and hardworking. There was no loud music or swearing. They came when they said they would, and they left the property in good shape when they left. Our son and his wife are getting a new driveway next year, and they plan on having Beiler Brothers do the work. Overall, working with this company was a very positive experience."

"Dave was very responsive to my request for a bid. Unfortunately we had some inside water problems and had to put the job off for a year while restoration work was done. When I called him back in the spring, he still had my paperwork and honored the original bid. He and his workers showed up promptly every day and worked constantly. They dismantled and carted away the old cement block wall which was crumbling, and installed a beautiful Versa Lock wall, and reseeded and put additional top soil on the damaged lawns on both our and my neighbor's lawns. He took care while working around the existing flower beds, and even managed to avoid my neighbor's Invisible Fence which was installed close to the original wall, as well as managed to locate and protect our Verizon Fios line which was installed close the the original wall (even though after 2 calls to 811, Verizon insisted there was no line in the area he was working on. Verizon never visited the site, and never marked the line with flags.) Dave went above and beyond to locate the wire, carefully dig it up, and protect it from the excavation machinery. The entire project was done in 5 1/2 days. He cleaned up and power washed our driveway where all the equipment, fill, gravel, block, etc.was temporarily housed. We are very happy with the results and Dave and his crew were very easy to work with. Dave was on site himself every day. I would recommend him to anyone for this type of work, and will consider him when we replace our driveway (hopefully not for a few more years!)"

"My experience started off by meeting Jeff, one of the owners of Prestige Paving. He met me at my house one afternoon to provide me with an estimate. Jeff arrived right on time and began measuring the existing driveway. He really took his time to make sure I understood exactly what services he was providing as well as understanding what it was that I wanted as a customer. The estimate was provided in a timely manner and the pricing fell right in the middle of the other two estimates that I had received. When it came time to begin work, the crew lead by Jeff's brother John, showed up on time as scheduled. This crew was top notch. They wasted no time in tearing out the old driveway. They were professional, knowledgeable, took care not to damage anything they were not replacing. They went above and beyond in installing the drainage. The paving work looks flawless. This crew did everything that Jeff and I agreed upon and more without issue. No additional charges, no shortcuts, no mess. I watched them lay down the new asphalt and I am confident the 2-1/2 and 1-1/2 was the minimum thickness provided. These guys are not out there to take their customers for a ride. They do what they say they are going to do and more. These guys are professionals. They care about the work they do. I highly recommend Prestige Paving."

"Called Greg and he came out a couple of days later and gave me an estimate. I asked if he could finish the job by a certain date as I was going on vacation. Greg said that this would not be a problem. I called Greg and hired him to do the work a couple days later. About a week passed and Greg said he would be starting Friday morning. Friday morning at 8AM the crew was here working diligently. The crew removed an existing paver patio; prepped and formed the patio to my specification; installed the aggregate; then poured 5 yards of concrete in 1 day. My 80-foot driveway is newly paved. They used a bobcat to transfer the concrete from the street to the back of my house. They made 10-15 trips and not a single drop of concrete on my driveway! Greg stopped in Friday late afternoon to check in on the crew and my satisfaction. The crew returned Monday (they were going to work Saturday but we had storms all weekend). The crew fixed the yard where the bobcat tore up the sod. They used a great grade of top soil, seeded and covered with mushroom mulch. What a fantastic job. The crew was friendly, attentive, detail oriented and focused on getting the job done. If you need work done, do not bother calling anybody else."

"This outfit is an extremely professional one. So hard to find any service-based company which is really good at what they do, are reliable and punctual for appointments and customer-oriented -- but Mike and his staff are the real McCoy. He knew exactly what weed I was dealing with and how to defeat it, just from a brief verbal description. Impressive!"

"Everything went smoothly. They started the job when they said they would and finished quickly in 2 days. I've received many compliments on the job and the finished look from many of the other contractors working on the project. The stone really added an updated look to the front of the house and helps offset the older siding. I would recommend A-Z and Aleh. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Greensburg, PA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
