When the Virus caused material supply issues, they gave us the choice of waiting for the material we asked for or getting an upgrade to an in stock, higher priced material – for the same price! When the Virus caused one of their work crews to quarantine, they sent a one-man team to build our fence. He single-handedly, over four days, built our fence in 90 degree temps, and did a great job! Due to this there was a little confusion on a couple things, but after contacting Jeff his crew came out and fixed my concerns within a couple days of our phone conversation. "We contacted Hansen Brothers on the recommendation of our roofers to install the electrical outlet for a roof heat cable and to discuss our front steps project. Until this point, it was difficult to get anyone to accept the front steps project. Masonry contractors would not handle cement and cement contractors would not handle masonry. We needed a general contractor to help and Hansen Brothers came highly recommended. Bob Hansen sent his son over to check on the electrical outlet needs and Bob came to assess the front steps project. He listened to my requests and introduced us to a metal worker who would fabricate the new handrails. We made a railing selection and then we discussed the timing to complete the project. In the interim, Bob's son Eric installed the roof power outlet and back door sconce satisfactorily. We started the big project of the steps replacement mid-September and it took several weeks to complete, there was much to coordinate to get this project done properly. Bob was in constant communication about the progress. We had a bit of a slow down waiting for the cement contractor to deliver the concrete, but once that happened, everything else came together. The final electrical pieces and masonry work were completed shortly after the steps were done.  Everything turned out beautifully!  Bob's experience and familiarity with Chicago homes was evident. He gave sound advice and provided some excellent suggestions with our projects. Our neighbors have also commented on how well things turned out. I would indeed contract with Hansen Brothers again for my home projects and will recommend Bob Hansen to my family and friends. I feel we have finally found a trusted general contractor who is responsive who takes pride in his work.

"The team showed up at 8am on time and immediately got to work. They were very friendly and did not hesitate to ask questions regarding an old sprinkler system in the yard. They had to remove part of a hedge, but only removed the minimum amount needed to bury the drain pipe. The window well replacement is beautiful. They even replaced the drain at the bottom without asking. Overall, Scott and his team did a phenomenal job. I would totally hire them again."

"We are undertaking an extensive exterior renovation of our c.1927 Tudor Revival and badly needed masonry restoration represented Phase I.
This was our first experience with a provider found on Angie's List and we were very pleased. I received a very prompt response to my initial request for an estimate and in comparison to other quotes we obtained, A O Handy was most in line with the extent of restoration we felt necessary as well as within our budget.
The work began within a few days of our having signed the contract and continued daily until completion. I was especially impressed with the crew's punctuality and how respectful they were of the jobsite. They tidied up  the work area everyday before they left.
I was also impressed by how well they were able to match the color of the new mortar to that contained within the existing grout lines. They also cleaned up the unsightly repairs where the previous homeowner had attempted to repoint sections of the brickwork himself years ago.
In summary, if you're looking for quality, old world craftmanship, I would strongly recommend AO Handy. It truly was a pleasure dealing with Andy, his son Arthur and the rest of the crew.
I am hoping the next phases of our exterior renovation go as well as the masonry restoration did.

"Home Force Builders, Inc. did an incredible job on our kitchen and downstairs bath remodel. We had new lighting, floors refinished, tile back splash and all new cabinetry put in. Mike Bovio and his crew have an incredible eye for detail and are very meticulous with their work. Every night, before they left, they cleaned up and made the kitchen as functional as it could be for us to use. They were prompt when arriving in the morning. Our project finished on time and we were never waiting for Mike or any of his crew in order to get on to the next step.
