"Joe and his team well exceeded my expectations! The job quote was fair and the work is great, I'm so happy with my "new" kitchen! Pedro sanded and stained my cabinets and they look like new. Mike took his time installing the new hardware and if any of the handles don't line up, I can't see it, they look perfect! We also had a screen door / side door frame that needed to be replaced. Joe did an excellent job. The door was more work than initially thought and Joe stayed until the job was complete. Joe showed true work ethic keeping at it until the job was done! I'd definitely recommend Locke It In and hire them again!"

"They messed up the ceiling part in a corner. They got the wall paint mixed in with the ceiling paint. They did try to fix it. We do have cathedral ceilings. It took them a long time to paint. I was a little frustrated or upset by the fact that the painter didn't have an extension ladder and ended up standing on my wood stove to reach. It made me so nervous. I really didn't want them to come back to fix the ceiling. They did smudge it pretty bad, but I just choose to not look at it. It wasn't exactly what I would have expected from a professional painter, but they did an okay job. They were very responsive. The owner called me the next day to see how it went. They were very punctual and professional. I guess it would be somewhat shady with the lack of ladders they had. I would probably use them again. Because of the difficult job, I think overall they probably are decent painters, it was just above their expectations. They were prompt and worked right thru until they were done."

"We hired Woodward Fence after receiving two other estimates. Lou Woodward's was the lowest, but not by much, but we liked him and because he is very local and had done other fences in the neighborhood and received good reviews on Angie's List, we hired him. He was more than 3 weeks late starting the project but we weren't worried about it. When they did come, they removed the old fencing which was quite a project and took a day longer than expected. That was fine, too. They put in the new fence which looks really good overall and we were quite happy with it except for a couple of little things that are still not resolved to this day. One of which is that the driveway gate had to have 2 poles to stabilize both sides when it was opened (to allow the car in and out) and only one pole was put in. They eventually came back after being reminded but put in a much shorter pole on the other side which does not, in fact, hold the gate open (they are self-closing). So we have lived with this for several months even though I called to complain that it was the wrong size and didn't work. No response. The other item that has gone unaddressed is the hole they were to leave for a granite post. The post was not delivered while they were here because the saw wasn't working. By the time the saw worked, the fence was installed and everyone was gone. I tried digging the hole myself but ran into concrete that they had poured for one of the fence poles by a gate and did not leave enough depth or space for a 7" granite post. The workers installing the fence had discussed with me where the post would go and how much space to leave. I called Woodward and asked them to come by and fix it but have neither heard from them nor seen them. By the time I realized no one was coming to fix anything, I felt pretty disgusted with them. Two small but critical items to finishing the job went undone. And so I have to hire someone else. Not happy with that.

"Their plan was to start on a Monday, but we were out of town, so they agreed to start Tuesday and they did. The original estimate was for about 3 weeks, but Matt (the boss) didn't want to commit due to unknowns. In the end, it took just over a month, but there was a problem with the windows, so it delayed the project.
For the most part, they guys were really professional. They were considerate enough to remove their boots at the front door until they had put down drop cloths. They were fairly consistent on this. There were a couple days when it was just the painter coming that he didn't do that. And on the final day, it was hit or miss if they would remove their shoes.
The quality of the rough carpentry is probably good. Its hard to evaluate, but there are no noticeable problems or issues. The drywall is ok to good. The finish work on the drywall is ok. There are some bumps and a few corners that aren't perfect, but better than the existing house and way better than I could have done.
The trim work is good, but it took awhile to get there. The original house had 4 inch walls in the attic. I wanted more insulation and had them add 2 x 2 strips to make a 6 inch wall. The original windows only had 4 inch trim. The first attempt they made was to butt trim up against the existing trim leaving a seam in the middle of the window. That wasn't acceptable, so they came back and did it right. Looks great now.
The paint was disappointing. The original contract didn't call for paint, but I had them do it anyway with premium California paint. After it was done, I wish I would have done it myself. There are areas where you can see drywall through the paint. They aren't huge and if I had done it myself, I would probably be ok with it, but its not good for a professional job. Also, when he was painting the trim, it seems he didn't sweep up the construction dirt, so there is bits of stuff dried into the trim paint. Again, not good for a professional. They painted before they put the new windows in due to the delay with the windows, and when they put the windows in, they got the paint dirty around the windows and didn't touch up. Its bad enough that I'll be doing it myself.
The electrical work was ok as well. The only bad thing I can say is the thermostats they installed are probably the cheapest you can find and the baseboard heaters are off white, so they stand out against the white trim. These are items I can easily correct if it bothers me enough, so no big deal.
There was some confusion over the windows. We didn't call out in the contract how big the windows would be for some reason. At the time of the estimate I said I wanted big windows like the ones in the front of the house. So when we started the project and the windows came up, they were just planning taller, not wider windows, so different that what I was expecting. As a result they had to order new windows which caused the delay. When they finally came in, there was a mix up and the windows weren't usable. Matt agreed to go with a better window which he could get immediately but is a different brand from the other windows in the house. He did this in order to finish the job instead of having to wait another 3 weeks for custom windows. In the end, we got size of windows we wanted and they look great.
In terms of price, they didn't nickel and dime me. The electrician did add $100 for an extra light and switch that I asked for. Also, despite the confusion over the windows and getting a better window, Matt didn't ask for more money there either.
In the end, I would absolutely use they guys again. However, I would make sure more details are in the contract to avoid confusion, and I would not use them for paint."
