"The technician arrived late and I needed to follow up with office to make sure I had the right expectation, which I did, and then shortly after he called me to let me know he was on the way. Not really too big a deal since he was about 45 minutes later than his window. My gas fireplace was not lighting properly and the pilot light would go out periodically. At the end of last winter I shut off the gas for safety reasons. I called Chimney Cricket because of the recommendations of Angies list, they have all A's. The technician was professional and did an inspection of the situation and components, he checked the remote starter and ended up changing all batteries. The remote was not "connecting" and the fire would not start. Shortly after the fire seemed to start on its own. The technician continued to assess the situation but eventually made the assessment, because he could not determine definitively the manufacturer of the log set and the apparent randomness of the fire starting, that I should completely replace all components of the fireplace. In follow up emails he was going to check into the situation further and get back to me on some recommendations, I did not hear back after more than a week so I went to the local fireplace shop (Chadds Ford Fireside Shop) to buy a whole new set. The shop salesman really questioned me and doubted that I would need to spend 2,000+ on a complete new set up including the chimney inspections and installation. He recommended that I spend another fee for "their" guy to come and have a look. I was not at all interested in paying another inspection fee, I argued with the salesman about how a professional had already assessed everything and that his guy was going to find the same, but I relented after the owner of the shop realized through our conversation that his shop had installed this fireplace and all components just 6 years prior. So the new chimney Technician came out today and after checking everything essentially pushed a reset button on the remote receiver to re-sync the remote transmitter and receiver. Now the fireplace is working fine again, he also cleaned the components and pilot light. I'm writing this review because 1) the price was very high for the service received (The other technician who fixed my remote today was MUCH more reasonable). 2) Chimney Cricket didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. 3) For a technician who has been in the gas log fireplace business for 30+ years I don't understand why he didn't know to try pushing the reset button. 4) He ended up fixing nothing, he did not fully follow up to give me recommendations and aside from an honest Fireplace shop owner who was more interested in getting my fireplace working vs making a new sale I would have spent 2,000+ for a new set up."

"I called John because my wife agreed to a chimney sweep company which called us and came to clean our chimney, telling her that it would be $120. Luckily I was here when vacuumed out our zero clearance fireplace chimney. They did find cracks in the bottom and back;prefab panels in the fireplace fire box and they did a 'free' inspection of our furnace chimney which he then found some water 'damage' . They then told me that they would have to re-cement the furnace fireplace cracks and also cement the panels in the fireplace which they said will cost about $1200, they kept pressing that this needs to be done to prevent CO2, when I hesitated he said they would give me a 10% discount if I paid in cash. That set off some red flags in my head and as they were an out of state company we didn't even call. I told them to write up what they thought I needed and I'll discuss it with my wife and get back to them, after writing up the 'estimate' he said if you call before Monday then he can cut off another $150, which again made me even more leery. After they left I checked Angie's List (which I would have done if I knew my wife made the appointment) and found good reviews for Let There Be Light Chimney Sweep so I called them and left a message to see what their price would be for the work. I got a call around 8PM that evening from John - I was impressed that he called back that same evening. When I told him our situation he explained that I was approached by a typical 'gypsy' chimney sweep company and explained they did all the 'tricks' to get pressure you to pay for something that you didn't need. We spent the next hour or so on the phone discussing what I could do to fix the fireplace. He told me to make a cardboard template of the back and bottom panels of the fireplace and go to a metal shop to get them to create a 1/4 inch piece to fit in the fireplace, using fireplace cement to fill the cracks and then put in the steel piece. He said that will stop future fires from causing any more cracks and it will actually help the heat reflecting back to the room (not to mention painting it with heat paint will help the look), all total it should cost less then $150. He also mentioned that I should NOT cement the side panels which the NY company wanted to do because that will probably cause more problems with heat expansion (which implies either ignorance or they were looking to create future work). So thanks to Angie List I was able to get in contact with John who really impressed me with his honesty, knowledge, and professionalism. Not only did I save about a thousand bucks or so but his suggestion will increase the efficiency of my fireplace, needless to say when I do need a chimney sweep I'll be using Let There Be Light Chimney Sweep!"

"Tony & Andy showed up right on time and got right to work.  They removed the old chimney cap which had a couple of scratches on it.  Then the chase cover.  They took down the cap and took it apart and painted it with a heat proof paint.  Then they installed and caulked the new chase cover, then the replaced the cap. <br /> They did a really clean nice job, and I even got a discount using an Angie's list coupon,  The original price was 1165.00, it came down to 1106.75. <br /> Another fine job by Estates!!  Tony & Andy were amazing. <br /> Thanx for a job well done!! <br /> Lee Murphy <br />"

"I called and they were able to get me in within 2wks of my call. Service associate called to let me know he was on his way, and then arrived within the service window. He was very clean by putting down drop cloths and running his shopvac the entire time to capture all dust. He completed the entire cleaning in less than 30min. I had several companies come out for estimates and they ran the gamut, from , "no can't fix it, replace it", to "sure, I can caulk that for you". Romano Roofing was the only company that really tried to balance what was needed with being mindful of my budget. They gave me a couple of options, and honestly, of all the estimates I received, Romano's was the only one that made sense. They explained all the details of the repair I needed and the limitations of matching shingles, etc. The job was scheduled sooner than expected and the crew arrived in a timely manner, and did a thorough, neat job. Despite the warning of not being able to match my existing shingles, it's a barely noticeable difference in color. Everyone I dealt with from first phone call to final payment was professional and helpful. When the time comes for the full replacement, I know I only need to make one call. Not many companies have the experience Mast does with this roofing system and Chris was instrumental in finding solutions, like removing the existing tile over the garage pent roof to be used for the various repairs on the main roof, so the repairs used the same color and didn't scream that it was a repair. They don't make these terracotta tiles anymore (mine look like cedar shake), so cannibalizing the garage roof was the perfect call. Now we have extra for future fixes. The new asphalt section is barely noticeable from the street that it's different from the main roof. Thank you to Chris and the rest of the team they were such a pleasure to have working on the house. The pride they all took in their jobs was clearly evident."
