"Ed retrieved the carpet from Home Depot, saving me their delivery cost. He removed the old carpet and padding, then installed new. He swept the bare floor before installing the pad, and vacuumed the carpet when the job was completed. All told, it took him about 2 hours. However, he didn't have to install tacking strips (since the room had already been carpeted), so if your job needs those, it would take longer. Friendly, courteous, prompt."

"They are excellent. They do all of my carpets, they do a great job. They are thorough. In terms of just doing my regular carpet they do as well as anybody but as far as doing my oriental carpet they are expensive and need special care. They come and pick those up and take them and clean them and bring them back and lay them down. It is always done with great care."

"A step Above to the rescue!! <br /> (We initially had another company install our floors and they did an awful job. The install lacked professional finishing details. The sanding was terrible and showed lines and grooves and cuts were done poorly, boards were not checked, putty everywhere to fix cracks and missing putty in nail holes and the owner had an excuse for everything. We had chosen to have Rubio Monocoat applied to the oak floors and they ruined that too) <br /> We had to wait a few weeks bc A Step Above only uses the best men. No temps or subs. It was worth waiting for. Rick Senior and Jr did an amazing job. They will be coming back to do our downstairs in the summer. <br /> <br />"

"Excel provided excellent service from promptly contacting me to schedule an estimate after a message from Angie's so list was sent, to being on time to do the job to the job itself.  Greg explained why the carpet had stretched the way it did so soon after it was installed.  I waited almost four years to have the carpet stretched after it began to buckle.  After the service was provided you can't tell there was ever a problem.  I would definitely recommend Excel Carpet Services. <br />"

"They were super helpful in picking out the right product and color for our basement remodel. The installation went smoothly and looks great. We will definitely be going back when we need carpet for the upstairs."

"Two gentlemen arrived on schedule, explained the process and proceeded to do a wonderful job. The carpet was dry cleaned with their special process. The carpet looks wonderful, not quite new but very nice."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Harrison, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
