Small jobs welcome

"Tom and his crew rebuilt our composite deck in the June-July 2018 time frame. We could not be happier with the job. The Built To Last crew was very professional and definitely went the extra mile to ensure that the rebuilt deck was better than new. Everything is very secure and tight. During the construction, Tom made several suggestions to keep the price down while not compromising quality and our satisfaction. Tom provided price transparencies for all materials. Greatly appreciated! We would definitely use Tom and his crew again. Highly recommend Built To Last Construction. Just as a note... this was a very large deck with a great deal of work."

"We have used Tri-Pups for a variety of jobs around our home. Most recently they did a bathtub tear out and new shower installation. Chris and Debbie and the entire staff are super easy to work with and up front with what is involved and what to expect. They have also done recessed lighting, laminate floors, and repositioned kitchen cabinets. They even cut hole through our brick to install a new window where there was not one. The work is always top quality and they are the first call we make. Will definitely use again, and highly recommend."

"Alan recently completed a full stairway replacement in our home. We now have a beautiful oak stairway to enjoy. This was the second time we contracted with him for a home upgrade project. As before, his craftsmanship is excellent. He is committed to quality and professionalism in every aspect of his work. We will certainly contact him again for our next project."

"Could not have gone better. Every time I asked for a modification, no matter how complex it seemed, Art came up with the solution and his work was impeccable. He's a very intelligent, resourceful, detail oriented, precise, creative and talented person. He doesn't believe in "good enough" - it has to be 100% precise before Art will consider it done. I've had Art do things as simple as install new light fixtures and as complex as building this gazebo. You cannot find anyone easier to work with or more talented. His rates are reasonable and he sticks to his promises. Electrical and Building inspector both signed off on their first inspection of Art's work."

"Tom and his crew were very polite and professional. They worked constantly from the time they arrived until they left at the end of the day. They always cleaned up any mess they made at the end of the day and left the area neat. Chris, worked on the crown mouldings and baseboards and did an excellent job. The crown and the baseboards are beautiful and make the house look so polished. I absolutely love the mouldings and baseboards. The painting was done very well and I am very pleased with every room that was painted. My basement looks fantastic! The flooring and baseboards look spectacular! Tom goes out of his way to insure everything the customer wants is done. He even went with me to Home Depot to pick out the doors and locks. He also did extra tasks that weren't in the contract, such as putting vents in my furnace room because they should be there for safety reasons. I truly appreciated Tom's thoughtfulness in completing jobs in my house because they were needed or would make my home look better. I was very fortunate to find Tom and his crew, because not only were they professional and personable, but they completed all of the work I contracted for and did even more that I didn't ask for. Tom really did treat my home as if it was his and provided high quality work and a great smile too. I highly recommend Tom and his construction company to anyone looking for an honest and fair contractor, who takes pride in the quality of work performed. I only have one project left to do, but I certainly will contact Tom to do that job when I'm ready."

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse repair projects in Highland, MI

You’ll know it’s time for a new shed roof if shingles curl or buckle, soft spots sag, or water stains appear inside. Moss or other plant growth on the surface is another red flag that moisture has breached the roofing layers. Replacing the roof quickly stops leaks from spreading, protects stored items, and saves you from costlier structural repairs down the road.

Choosing between a flat and a sloped shed roof comes down to climate, budget, and upkeep. A flat roof is cheaper up front, but still needs a slight pitch for drainage. A sloped roof sheds rain and snow more easily, lasts longer, and often needs less maintenance. Weigh your local weather patterns, the look you want, and how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep before deciding.

A shed roof’s life span hinges on the material you choose and how well you maintain it. Most standard products last 15 to 30 years, while premium picks like slate or clay tile can protect the structure for 50 to 100 years. Regular inspections, fast fixes, and routine cleaning all help you reach the upper end of those ranges and keep your tools and gear dry year-round.
