"We hired Wright Brothers to do our basement remodel that included a full bar, guest bedroom, bathroom, and a lot of custom millwork (i.e built in entertainment center, wainscoting, base trim and window casing). Although we had a design in mind before we hired Wright Brothers, they were able to offer suggestions to improve what we had already started. Their prices were very fair and the communication from the beginning to the end of the project was outstanding. We never felt pressured to do anything and they were always upfront and transparent when items outside the scope of work were identified. Guests are constantly amazed when they walk in our basement and see the before and after pictures. It is a place our family will use for many years to come thanks to the quality, dependability and integrity Cameron and Jordan put into their jobs."

Customers say: True professional

"We hired Truste Construction to finish our basement. We are very happy with the workmanship and quality of the finish. They did a fantastic job. Jeff and his crew were professional yet personable. As with any larger project, we ran into some issues. Jeff did a great job explaining the issue and advised us on ways to resolve them. He also made suggestions on ways to improve the design. We absolutely love the features he suggested. He worked hard to stay close the the original quote. His prices were very competitive. We made some changes as the project progressed which did push the cost a little higher. He handled all aspects of the project. He worked with the subcontractors and coordinated all of the scheduling. The project took a little longer than originally planned, but Jeff kept us informed on everything that was going on as the project progressed. We enthusiastically recommend Truste Construction."

Customers say: Quick response

"D&D Remodeling recently completed the remodel of two bathrooms in my home. I couldn’t be happier with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and paid close attention to detail throughout the project. From the initial consultation to the final touches, communication was clear and responsive, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. Working with Bri on the design elements was a collaborative and seamless experience. She really listened to my ideas and helped guide me toward choices that worked beautifully together — I’m so pleased with how everything came together in the final product. The team handling the remodel was consistently punctual, courteous, and professional. One aspect I especially appreciated was receiving a daily summary of the work completed; it kept me informed and reassured throughout the entire process. I would gladly recommend this team to anyone considering a bathroom remodel."

"We hired Matt and the A-Z Remodel and Repair team for our basement remodel, and the experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. Matt was punctual, professional, and incredibly communicative throughout the entire project. We always knew what was happening and what to expect next. The job site was kept impressively clean and organized every single day, which made living through a remodel far less disruptive than we anticipated. Matt’s attention to detail is outstanding, and it shows in the quality of the finished work. Even when subcontractors were on site, Matt was there alongside them, making sure everything was executed to his standard. The project stayed on schedule, the craftsmanship is excellent, and Matt’s customer-service-first approach made the whole process genuinely enjoyable. We’d hire A-Z Remodel and Repair again without hesitation and recommend them to anyone looking for a contractor who truly cares about doing the job right."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Jesus and Mauro were good to deal with but took a month longer than they committed to complete the project. The drywall and tile work was good but their woodwork finish was poor with large gaps in trim. The stain work was haphazard and a seal coat was not applied. The final clean up was not done well. Large globs of drywall mud was left on basement floor. I would not use them again."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Highlands Ranch, CO

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
