"A significant section of tile was damaged in the shower when a plumber had to remove and replace a faucet unit. Alexis at B & D immediately contacted me to discuss the issue and we arranged a time when he could look at the job. He was on time, thorough, responsible and responsive. We have not hired anyone to do the job yet but are still very much considering Alexis. The extent of the job is too big to make a quick decision about how to proceed so we are tabling the issue til after the New Year. If we do hire Alexis to do the job, we will post updates here."

"Mike is fantastic. We had a leak in an outer wall that damaged our flooring and the wall. He repaired the leak, replaced the flooring, and installed new wainscoting that I had been wanting on the damaged wall. The quality of his work is top notch and he was so kind and easy to work with. 100% recommend."

"Salesman showed up on a Sunday afternoon, listened to what I was looking for and tailored a solution to fit my needs, to included payment options and solutions. I got several estimates and the 6&Fix salesman was the only one that didn't either use pressure tactics, talk down other companies, assume we were ignorant of what we were purchasing, give a ridiculous price, or fail to understand our needs. The installers showed up as scheduled and installed the new system quicker than expected, cleaned up, loaded the old unit and were gone. So far, so good."

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Hillsborough, NC

You should regrout tile every 10 to 15 years, provided it is well-maintained with regular cleaning and sealing. Over time, grout can deteriorate due to exposure to moisture, foot traffic, and the use of cleaning agents. If you start to see cracks, discoloration, crumbling grout, or loose tiles, it’s a sign that regrouting is needed sooner.

The most effective way to clean grout involves a combination of powerful cleaning agents and the right tools. Using a dedicated grout brush intensifies the cleaning process, ensuring a deep clean. Create a powerful homemade solution by mixing baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap to break down deeply embedded dirt. After cleaning, reseal the grout to lock in protection and maintain its appearance.

You can't regrout tile without removing the existing grout and expect good, long-lasting results. You must replace the old grout when it begins to crumble and fail. New grout cannot properly adhere to existing grout, meaning moisture will still reach the damaged layer and cause additional water damage, which will be more costly to deal with in the long run.

Visible indicators, such as cracks, stains, chipping, and mold growth, signal that your grout is compromised and no longer maintains its bonding strength. If you notice these issues, cleaning alone won't restore the grout's integrity. In such cases, consider complete or partial regrouting to preserve your surfaces and prevent further damage.
