"You can't beat local family-owned businesses. Jason came out when he said he would and quoted a carpet stretching job for me. Often people won't waste their time on small jobs like this because it's a lot of work and not a lot of money for the effort invested. That or they just knock it out quickly and do a sub-par job to get to their next job. This was not Nei Brothers Carpets. He was on time, did the job perfectly and did it in the time frame/cost he stated. You cannot ask more from a business."

"Called Greg, the owner, for an appointment; he arrived on time and brought a wide range of samples; good to see them laid out in our rooms with our lighting as opposed to in a showroom. Greg's experience was very helpful in sorting through the samples and making our selection. Installers arrived as scheduled and removed old carpet and pad which were rolled and taped for our wkly garbage pickup. Entire process of removal and installation of new pad and carpet was done very efficiently and professionally in a few hours. A week or so later we did have an issue with a seam in one room. Greg came right out, and it was resolved to our complete satisfaction. We are very pleased with our carpet and the process of working with Greg. Would not hesitate to work with again."

"Lance is wonderful. He reached out right away after I submitted my project on Angie’s List. We set up a good time for him to inspect the job. Lance stretched 7 Year old carpet so it looks new again! The installer we used before said nothing could be done and walked away. Thanks again Lance!"

"I reached out to Mike at Windy City and we set an appointment immediately. He had to cancel the appointment but phoned early to let me know and rescheduled promptly. He showed up to my home with an array of samples. Took measurements and spent some time explaining the process and the types of carpet. He even sent me carpet samples so I could lay them on the floor to compare. The men who installed showed up about 30 minutes late but got right to work. They were friendly and hardworking. All of our heavy furniture was upstairs so they had to move from one side of the room to the other. No small task since our roof is angled which cuts down the space to move items. It took them longer than they thought to install: 10 hours in all! The carpet looks great! And the padding underneath is the BEST! What a difference on our feet! I would definitely hire again."

"We needed new flooring in the future nursery. The issue was getting it installed quickly, as I was due in about 6 weeks. Mike, the owner, came out right away to give a quote. He was polite and thorough in answering all my questions. I was very pleased with the quoted price as well, which included pulling up the carpet and providing the underfloor. He promised to schedule us right away once our wood was delivered, (We were providing our own flooring), and he followed through on that promise. The installation took one day and was completed 2 weeks before our little one arrived. It looks beautiful. Also, they adhered to the estimate perfectly. The only thing not yet done is the finishing piece at the top of the stairs, which I still have to order and then schedule with Nex to install."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Hinsdale, IL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
