"I was given a window between 1pm and 2pm for an estimate.  The guy showed up almost an hour late.  After determining what was leaking he went to home depot to get the replacement part.  I still had not been given an estimate.  
He gets back and replaces the part maybe 45mins at home depot and 15 mins at my house, then has no idea what to charge me.  Here is where I realize I'm in trouble.  He waits about an hour to talk to his boss and see what the charge would be, so much for getting an estimate before hand.  He finally gets ahold of the guy then tells me its $185.  I asked him if that included the 10% angies list discount listed on angies list and he shrugs and says "uh, I think so", right.  
So basically I feel like a dope for not demanding an estimate before he booked it out to the store, but still that's a little ridiculous.  I won't be using McDonah again.
The work however was fine, he left it in better condition then it was.

"Pipepals plumbing was 10 stars! Choice was 4 stars. They were timely in assigning the job but I had to keep an eye in the website as notifications did not get pushed via email as expected. They also wouldn't cover all the work recommended by the plumber. Essentially I had a broken pvc in an outside faucet and they wanted him to reuse the faucet instead of replacing it. So I would have had a 1/2 in pipe with 2 connectors...to an old faucet just to save $30. I paid out of pocket so it's right but really? Again plumber was AWESOME. Showed early and returned next day to confirm leak was fixed and patched the holes."

"Rardins has merged with Mattex Plumbing, but Oscar Rardin is still with them. Very professional, both over the phone and kept me updated through texts on the phone. Showed up as promised and was done within 3 hours. Only real difference was in how prices have inflated since 2014 (last time pump was replaced) $1400 vs $500 The pump accounted for over $1200 of that total. Oscar did a excellent job!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

I wasn't sure this would end up to be a good idea but, it turned out a very pleasant experience. They did it all from start to finish. They spent the first day and a half gathering the trash and debris left by the tenants. They must have pulled four trailers worth of mess out to the dump. Then they went through the whole place; removing nails from the walls, doing the patchwork on the plaster and lathe (where we wanted it repaired and pulled out where we wanted drywall replaced), sanding all the spots and removing the mess. Then they started in with the heavy repairs in the putting in a couple of windows and hanging the drywall where needed, they taped off all the walls, fixtures and windows to ready it for paint. After painting and waiting for it to dry; then they started outside clearing out the brush and debris left behind. They also worked to dress up the yard with great ideas like window boxes and fresh flowers! . They did all the paint work inside the house and finished up by touching up the outside paint. They went back through the house last time and shampooed the carpets, cleaned the stove and fridge, and put fresh new chalk in all the needed spots. I know I may not have all the right terminology but, these folks Really saved the day! When they left the place was spotless and the time and money we spent was well worth giving up the headache of that mess to someone else and finding they'd done a great job! Wonderful!"

They called before they came, went right to work, and planned the job to move the recliners within a tight space expeditiously taking care not to damage anything. They were reasonably priced. "I paid him good money to build me a new Island and add backsplash in my kitchen. To paint the entire interior of my home. To install a barn door in our lower level. To Finish and add stack stone to my fire place and do some exterior painting. He was supposed to finish in 4 - 5 weeks but abandoned the job after 9 weeks without finishing anything. After 7 weeks he painted all but 15' of my kitchen. This had to be done by Saturday of the 7th week because our flooring guy was starting Monday. They failed. They quit Saturday leaving the 15' unpainted and my wife had to paint the remaining 15' on Sunday. Installing a barn door in the lower level was on the bid which required lowering the header and adding trim to do so. This was his idea to do this but never installed the trim which looks terrible. Then tried to say adding to the header was extra work which I refused to pay for. Which is a lie. For the life of me I can't tell you how he would have done the job he bid on without doing this as the ceiling was too low to add the hardware. On the bid was installing handles on all of the cabinets in the home but he did only the cabinets in the kitchen leaving the cabinets in the bathrooms undone. On the bid he was supposed to paint the shudders and the exterior doors outside but only painted the shudders leaving the rest undone. While painting the house they took all of the switch plates off the walls, they removed the curtains and blinds form the windows and took pictures off the walls without putting anything back up. My wife and I had to do all of that. They destroyed our interior Koi pond and rock garden by dropping drywall dust and pieces of drywall in the pond and rock garden. They knocked off over half of the rock edging that was around the pond and their ladders damaged the expensive paint in the pond. The bid called for a "thorough cleaning" of the property when all work was done. This didn't happen. They did almost nothing to the fireplace before finally abandoning the job altogether when my wife pointed out that they were stacking the stone incorrectly. The rebuilt the kitchen island which was on the bid but did not put any trim on it as they were supposed to do leaving it unfinished. This after 9 weeks! Use caution having your eyes wide open with the information provided."
