"I used this company for a number of years and the overall service is no longer the same. I had them over to clean my gutters and I witnessed ladders slamming against the side of my house and they tore one of the edges from the corner of my roof with their step ladder. I will not use them going forward."

"I cannot say enough of how fantastic Franklin Glass is…I had 26 original double-hung wood windows on my 30-year old house that the seals in the double-insulated panes and begun to fail. I have 41 windows in total and those 26 were beginning to look awful — cloudy, murky, and condensation in between the glass panes. I was getting quotes for full window replacements and shocked at how expensive it was going to be! I contacted Franklin Glass after one of my neighbors told me that they could just replace the double-insulated panes in each of the sashes and do it the same day — if you bring in the sashes by 8:30am, they will have them ready for you by mid-afternoon. I contacted them and made an appointment to bring in a couple of sashes and they got right on it. Now all 52 sashes are down and my house looks amazing! I can’t say enough about just how happy I was I went with Franklin Glass and how outstanding their work is. Fantastic company and I won’t ever use anybody else! Highly recommend."

"We needed a storm door for a backyard door. The entire service starting with selecting the door model to placing the order and having the door installed was very professional. Customer service was very helpful and Rob and Dave did an exceptional job to install the door - they were also very polite and accommodating. This company is highly recommended."

"On Sept. 26th, we had our shower looked at by Al Romano. Al was prompt, on time and did marvelous work on the shower making adjustments and cleaning things up. Al was very professional and explained all questions we may have had and answered to our satisfaction. This is the second time Al has done work for us for the shower and had the same results, very professional and very well done. You can tell, and see it, that he is very conscientious and meticulous about his work and what he does and it appears that he is doing it as if it was his own (shower). IF we have any other issues with it I would prefer that New Pro send Al Romano out to do the job. Certainly Al deserves a bonus for his work. Ray Fournier"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Hollis, NH

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
