"The representatives of Shelby Mechanical are all top notch, starting with the office staff Cheyanne who was always attentive to prompt scheduling of the plumbing work needed at my home. The plumbers were very efficient and did an excellent job both times, and their actual bill was below the quote they provided for the job. Gabe Judge had to go through the foya ceiling to replace an upstairs bathroom drain line which he did under budget. Justin Wilson replaced my galvanized pipes with copper pipes for the water supply lines and my water pressure is like brand new. These folks consistently exceeded expectations and are superstars in my book."

"I highly recommend Brock Mechanical for your plumbing needs. They provided a quick response to my immediate need for a leaking hot water heater replacement. Ken (plumber installer) was very professional both in his appearance and work ethic. Install was completed and area was left cleaner than when job started. Doug was very willing to work with me and the cost came in less than expected. Very pleased with the entire process from start to finish."

"I've had a good experience. I had a plumber in here very recently that replaced some faucets that were all blocked up with problems. He did a very good job too. It was really good, they did a very good job. I had a situation I hadn't been able to use an upstairs bathtub for quite awhile because we've got a lot of iron and stuff in our water and was all clogged up and everything. And he did a good job in terms of it working and in terms of the way it looked when he got done. And then he also replaced a faucet on a sink. Well, two things in terms of repair, it worked real well and it looked very good."

"The flapper in one of our toilets had deteriorated. Wasn't sure the one I had purchased was the correct one. Since I'm not a plumber, I didn't want to start monkeying around with it, and end up was a non-working toilet. We have used Countryside in the past, and they graciously worked us into their very busy schedule on the same day that I called. Thankfully, I had the right part. Dino had it installed in no time (trust me, it would not have gone in the right way if I had tried to do it!)."

"I found this plumber via manufacturer's web site for Noritz. The usual plumber I'd used in the past for other jobs was not familiar with tankless water heaters and was pushing some no-name brand. The price was fair and less than I feared. The price depends on many factors such as where the tank will be located, venting and gas line size. Luckily I had a relatively easy install and he didn't try to tell me otherwise. I also had him fix a hose bib on another visit where he charged top dollar ($150) for a 20-minute job. So I probably wouldn't call him again for a small job like that. He did a great work on both jobs and I love the unlimited hot water I have now."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Holly, MI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
