"In addition to the gutter guards which were installed and the downspouts buried, Thrasher also changed out a misfitting basement window well and cover, and installed a Sadona dehumidifying system. Jonah and his crew of Corrin and Luis were excellent at the work they did. I was called before they arrived, to ensure I was ready for them to start work, and Jonah went over the work with me prior to starting, to confirm what was to be done. Completely professional. After it was completed, we inspected it together and everything was perfect. I will worry less next time it rains! I will definitely recommend Thrasher if anyone I know needs work done."

"Dave from Foundation Recovery came and did my annual basement inspection. I’ve had a sump pump - and gutters to direct the water to it - installed by them, for three years. And so far I’ve had no water in my basement. Even during the heavy spring rains in KC. Dave was very friendly and professional, and very knowledgeable about basements and their problems. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I appreciate the great service Dave! Thanks."

"We used the services of Chavez Restoration & Cleaning for cleaning carpet in our basement and they were very very good, very positive. The basement was flooded and the sump pump did not work nor did the backup for that matter. They came in here to assess what they were dealing with. (inaudible at 00:01:32) is some of it is carpet and they lifted up all of the carpet and they put fans under it. They dried everything out in three rooms down there, two bedrooms and a restroom and they lifted things off the floor that were little rusted and they put everything back exactly like they were supposed to. They were excellent to be honest. They had everything complete. They did not go halfway. We had some comforters down there and there were some sort of lot of stuff that were expensive. They got all of those things completely dry-cleaned and dried out as good as new. I never thought that. They knew exactly what they were doing. They knew exactly where the water was and where the water was not. It was not flooded like inches thick. It was just enough to (inaudible at 00:02:45) everything."

"I got four estimates and Keating was on the low side because they werent preforming water proofing on the foundation, I didnt really need it. Keating was a bit more professional in their initial contact showing and discussing the problems.Keating started the <br /> jobs a few weeks after I accecpted the bid, this time period was quicker than the other companies estimates by months. The job took 3 days and they showed up on time and left on time every day. There was not alot of noise from the drilling and 4 of the pier <br /> holes had to be dug by hand. They had at about 6 guys on the job each day and.they let me know what was going on including <br /> watching as the southeast side was lifted some 2 inches to correct the problem. Good group of guys all business. I was happy with <br /> the job they performed. <br /> <br />"

"I called they came out on holiday evening and successfully opened a main line. They did the job another company failed to do (Reddi Services). Took a while to get the invoice, but they were fairly easy to work with. The line backed up they came out again no charge, but when they realized what was going on made me aware of the issue and advised it voided their warranty. I can live with fairness. I ended up having to have a third call, they got it open explained in depth what was going on what my options were and offered camera service to verify. I can't do shady service and my advice is to call this company out to get the job done. If I have to spend the kind of money I did to get the service done I want results not excuses. Snake and Rooter gave results and will be my go to for now when I need rooter services."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Holton, KS

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
