"We got a couple quotes to have a GFCI outlet installed in our home. Electric Today charged less than half of our other quote, then offered to install it on the spot when we said we would use his company. He had everything he needed on his truck and in less than an hour, we had our outlet installed when all we expected was another quote. He was friendly, efficient, and professional. Wouldn’t hesitate to call him again or to recommend him. GREAT experience and a very fair price!"

"After looking for someone for a very long time I came across Joe on Angie's List.  He said he was about a week out and the next week he called as promised.  The jets had not worked in a couple of years but when we powered it up, everything worked!  Joe took the time to inspect the threads on a nozzle that popped out on start up.  One was broken and he said he'd try to find another nozzle.  He reinstalled the nozzle and it has stayed put so far.  Joe provided a lot of information and said he didn't see the need to open up the panel at this point since all was working.  I agreed.  If the problem reappears there is no doubt I will call Joe.  A trust worthy good guy.

"It was fine. Professional people. We had one or two scheduling issues but they communicated effectively with me and it all had to do with weather. The job that they did was to my satisfaction. They were nice. It was just in my price range. They showed up at the final appointment time on time and they stayed for the full amount of time that they scheduled to be here and they did a satisfactory job on the project. It wasn't anything spectacular or anything very difficult that they needed to do. It was just work that was done well. For the one to two hour time slot that they were here I definitely wouldn't pay that again. I would say that was a little high. Good quality."

"It was great. They were friendly and professional. Made sure that I knew how everything worked before they left. My ceiling fans couldn’t look better and outlets all still look great. AND they were reasonably priced! Would definitely hire them again."

"Ronnie was exceptional from first contact through project completion. His price was competitive and he communicated well above average throughout our project. We did a 200AMP breaker panel swap, work in our pool equipment area, ran wiring for our new automatic pool cover, all new wiring in our pool house, installed a bath fan, and put wiring in our crawlspace for our new Aprilaire dehumidifier. His crew was professional and being an Army veteran myself it was a true pleasure supporting not only a small business but also a very sharp veteran. I will be hiring Ronnie again in the future and would highly recommend him to anyone. He was handed a real mess of electrical when he accepted our job and made a great looking job out of it!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Homer, IN

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
