"They did our basement right before Christmas. They did a fantastic job. They even helped me remove an old well pump that was in the way of their work. They were very professional and punctual. In the picture that shows the Pipe coming down the wall Water use to seep up through the floor there and over in the corner where the sump pump pit is in the corner it would actually run down the wall that is no longer happening. As you can see in the one picture the amount of water that was coming in as they were working was not a good thing as it had not rained in about a week."

"They installed steel beams on a wall that bowed inward in our basement garage after carbon fiber straps we had another company install several years ago failed. We are VERY pleased with the work performed - the workmen were professional and the work was completed in one day as they said. We have a lot of clay in our soil and with all of the rain this year, it placed too much pressure on our wall. Our wall was examined by their engineer prior to install and he explained that the purpose was to stop further movement."

"Excellent..very professional. The workers showed up on time every day and worked all day and cleaned up every day. The quality of the work is exceptional and they made sure that they checked all the plumbing/pipes before proceeding with full remodel. Brian, one of the workers found a problem that needed fixed and we addressed this issue as to not have a finished new bathroom and then have to come back and tear it up to fix a pipe. We welcomed their help in designing the bathroom from tile, fixtures etc.. They got everything done ahead of time and we are quite pleased happy with their work. Our home is older and now we have an up-to-date and quot;spa-likeand quot; bathroom that we enjoy everyday. In the future I have a kitchen remodel I would like to do and would definitely hire them again and again. One of the better companies I have dealt with over the years. <br />"

"The above project was completed after approx. a 6-week period. The guys were always respectful and considerate--always covering the floors and letting us know exactly what they were doing daily. Their work was very professional and of high quality. They even made a fuss over our dogs and our dogs were happy to see them each day. We had a trip planned during the construction and allowed the guys to continue to work even while we were gone for 5 days. They were very trustworthy and punctual. We would, without a doubt, use and recommend this company again. <br />"

"<p>Our dishwasher supply line broke and flooded our kitchen ruining the floor. Water ran through the floor into the finished basement and destroyed the basement ceiling, carpet, etc. It also ran into the downstairs bathroom and laundry room. The insurance adjuster recommended Weaver Building and Remodeling. </p> <p>We were very happy with his initial work. Since we had to get so much of the basement redone because of the water damage, we had him do additional remodeling. We had planned on redoing the basement a few years down the road, and we realized this was the time to do it. Doug was very good at getting back to us if he wasn't able to take our calls immediately (which he usually did). He was also very patient with us as we changed our minds about things several times during the project.</p> <p>Our water heater stopped working the day of the flood which was weird, but I thought it was probably just a coincidence. I mentioned it anyway just because. Doug called the manufacturer of the water heater and in talking to them decided that the control box of the water heater got damaged in the flood. He was able to get us a new water heater since they didn't sell that control box anymore. We didn't have to talk to the insurance company about it  (or anything else) as it was all handled without our input. (The insurance company was great to us also.)</p> <p> I was really apprehensive during this work since I've heard so many horror stories about contractors. I worried for nothing since everything turned out great. We would certainly use Weaver Building and Remodeling again without any reservations. We love our new improved basement and getting our lives back to normal has been helpful to our sanity.</p> <br />"

"B&E remodelling and roofing was recommended from a friend. They were 1 of numerous estimates I received for this large project. Mark one of the owners came out to do the estimate. He was very friendly and took his time to explain everything they were going to do and the products they used. Once the work started his crew were professional and punctual. Everyone was polite. This was a big job and his crews were here for two weeks straight, always informing me what work was going to be performed the following days. My wife and I love the make over B&E did on our house. We have had many people stop and tell us they love the house and the way it looks. The craftsmanship is impeccable. If you are thinking of remodelling you home do not hesitate to use them, they are the best. Thanks Mark and B&E Rich & Wendi"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Homer City, PA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
