"I signed the contract 10/23/19 with an expected pick up date by the end of the month. Heard on 10/30 that the transport had broken down and needed repairs. Talked to contact on 10/31 and reviewed alternative arrangements. Second transport option bailed out due to an emergency. Third option discussed. 11/05. I followed up and was told a driver was on the way. Pickup occurred 11/7 and delivery was 11/12. I paid extra for door to door service, but the transport could not navigate the residential streets, so pickup was in a mall parking lot. For the money paid, things could have gone more smoothly. Communication was okay, but given the starts and stops more wold have been better."

"He and his crew removed the old roof and installed a new one. Due to the harsh environment (high winds, salt air) extra stainless steel nails were used. Phil took time to explain coastal roofing challenges and used pictures of our roof to show us the existing condition. Workers were safe and polite. Work area was left in good order each day; project was completed promptly and looks great. After a big wind and lots of rain, gutters drain well and the roof is secure and well sealed. I would like to emphasize the importance of using a roofer who is familiar with coastal conditions. Our previous roof tiles were in good condition, but the wrong nails were used and therefore deteriorated prematurely."

"The quality of the roof job was excellent and was done on time.  The crew worked diligently and long hours to complete the job promptly.  They were friendly, respectful, and cleaned up well after the job was done. <br> <br>The problems we had with this company preceded the completion of the job. The first bid we had from Timber Home Improvements was about $30,000, but if we signed up on this first presentation we could get the job for about $26,000.  We signed up, which was my error.  Another bid that came in a couple days later offered the job at about $18,500.  This was from another reputable company that had done several other homes in our area.  Anyway, too late to change because Timber Home Improvements said they would charge us 30% of $26,000 to back out of the contract. My mistake. <br> <br>The only other problem was that, when they were about 1/4 done with the install, a neighbor (who does construction work) noticed the wrapping material was not the correct type that is required for the neighborhood - and not the correct grade according to the contract we had signed. It was a lower grade and lower cost material than we had agreed to.  I brought this to the attention of the main office, who double-checked and agreed that was the case.  The lower grade material was removed and replaced correctly and promptly. <br> <br>All in all, a mixed review. I am happy with the work, but feel duped that I have paid too much.  Get at least two estimates is my advice."

"After ordering a washer and dryer from Sears, we found out the long and hard way that Sears delivery teams do not have the wherewithal to face any challenge to installation, no matter how tiny. Sears did not want to try to install the dryer, because they beleived that our builder had not left enough room for the laundry room door to open once the dryer was installed. After many calls, photographs, emails, etc., they told us that and quot;installersand quot; would have to be called, and they gave me the number for this business. Even though all of this information (and detailed measurements and photographs were shared) they still had to send someone out to and quot;detail, and quot; a service that seemed like an alright idea, (send someone who will know what they're doing) to find out exactly how it will be done. Just like we suspected, the vent pipe only had to be clipped a few inches shorter, to attach the dryer directly with plenty of room. At the end of this appointment, the person mentioned, and quot;oh, did they tell you about the $35 bid fee?and quot; <br /> The hadn't. We figured it would cost for the work, but then found out that the installation was going to cost us another $160. Two days later, two men came out (polite and professional) but the work took a total of 15 minutes. <br /> After having already paid Sears a non-refundable delivery fee and and quot;set upand quot; fee of 65 dollars, this, above everything else, makes us never want to return to Sears. <br /> Way too pricey of an endeavor. <br />"

"We worked with John before purchasing our house when he provided a walk-through addressing issues he noticed as well as answered concerns we had about possible problem areas or needed repairs. He created a detailed estimate of repair supplies, methods, and costs as the result of our walk-through which helped us continue with negotiations to buy the house. He was able to meet us the very next day after the first phone call, and incidentally - this sort of responsiveness was always the case. After we purchased the home and received recommendations from a p & d report, he provided an estimate of required repairs not to exceed the stated amount. John scheduled his crew's work to begin as soon as we were in the house - an immediate response! They worked thoroughly on all of the repairs and even included additional necessary rescue repairs as they were discovered. He and his crew kept me informed all along the way, answered any questions I had on the spot, were conscientious of my small children and their work area, and they made sure everything was performed to or above expectation. They left us with information about repairs so that future attention (maintenance or additional repair) would not encounter any mysterious findings. In the end, the cost did not exceed the estimate, and we will continue to call on John for big and small projects - without hesitation."
