"I hired Alan to replace a badly deteriorated garage floor and to install a parking pad next to the garage off an alley. When he came to the site to give the estimate he also pointed out some failed mortar joints and significant stair-step cracking along the rear wall. In all, he and his crew repaired multiple sections of old mortar and replaced a rusty lintel; removed the old concrete garage floor; prepared the garage and exterior parking pad, removing dirt and a tree; formed up the new 18x18 garage floor and 20x20 parking pad, with a 4' apron; and poured the new concrete with appropriate finishes. I am absolutely thrilled with the finished product. Alan and his crew were a delight to work with. He clearly communicated changes in plans to work around weather and set expectations on scheduling and how long it would be before the concrete would be ready to be parked on. The site was left clean and neat at the end of each day, and the substantial, unavoidable disruption of the alley was repaired at the end of each day to make it presentable and drivable. No damage was done to my property or neighboring properties. I expected the initial estimate to be significantly higher, yet Alan committed to it, and the only small changes were due to additional work I requested while they were there. I could not be happier with how this project came together, and Alan was a delight to work with. I have several other smaller projects planned over the next few years and hope I'll be able to use him for those, as well!"

"I contacted N. Chasen and Son to replace our shutters. While working on the quote for the shutters via email, a wind storm tore some trim off our house, so I asked if they could include that as part of the work (as well as replacing some siding and a louver). They sent someone out the next week to check the shutter dimensions and determine what was needed for the trim, siding, and louver. They suggested repainting the louvers instead of replacing, and sent me a quote for all the work and to get it scheduled. On the scheduled date, Marcus was on time and very friendly. He walked me through everything they were going to do and explained that the shutters were on backorder and would be in later in the week, but he replaced the trim and painted one of the louvers (he needed a longer ladder for the second). He had to return a few times to finish the work, but he made sure it was all completed and the quality is fantastic. I'm very pleased with my experience with N. Chasen and Son and will definitely hire again when I have need."

Without being asked, she cleaned out the exhaust piping and then recommended to me the components that weren't salvageable, and how and where I could replace them. "Jay and his helper came out Monday morning and took all of the doors and hardware off and put a coat of primer on all of the cabinets. They took the doors to a building that Jay had built to put primer and two coats of paint on them. Wednesday and Thursday they returned and put two coats of the paint that I had selected on the cabinets and explained the process each step of the job. Friday they returned and put the doors and all hardware back up. I am very pleased with the outcome and would most definitely use them again. They were very courteous and cleaned up when they were finished."

When they began the repairs, Ricky was discovered that he would be able to repair rather than replace the gutter. We were already set for the replacement--piece was on the truck--but Ricky was very helpful in finding a better way. We were ready with the checkbook to pay more for what we had agreed on. They could have easily made more money on the deal. I take this as a sign of a conscientious approach with the long term rather than the quick buck in mind. And the work backed that up. "We've used Scott three times now, to paint our whole house (interior) when we moved into it 3 years ago, to paint our old house when we were ready to put in on the market, and most recently to paint our nursery and put up chair rail. I think its only fair to post that he's hands down the best painter I've ever used - its simply not worth my time and effort to paint myself anymore.
