"Joe does all his own work himself. We were on a tight schedule and he was able to come the same day I called. He didn’t just plug the leaks, but replaced the connecting pipes. He took out the old system and disposed of it for us. He was done quickly and left no mess."

"I HIGHLY recommend A New Beginning for your plumbing needs. We had an emergency so we went on Angi and submitted a form, someone from the company called me within five minutes and came out for a free inspection the very next morning. Before even pulling into the driveway, he knew exactly what the issue was just by looking at the yard which gave us the confidence that we had the right people. He was very straight with us, explained everything without any “sales” or jargon that we wouldn’t understand, very transparent and informative. Turns out we needed the septic pumped and entire drain field cleaned out. They helped out the first morning to hold us over until they could come out two days later which really helped us out. When they came for the job, they were friendly and QUICK! Overall great communication through the entire process, fairly priced, and went above and beyond to solve our emergency. No need to shop around, these are the guys you want."

"Gary and Brian were polite and very knowledgeable. They kept in contact with me since they ran into a problem with the previous job. I appreciated them letting me know what was going on and approximately when they would be at my house. They did an excellent job with the water heater and it was neatly installed. I have recommended Brodway Contracting to some of my friends and will use them again if I have problems they can take care of."

"The estimate was close to the others I shopped around. Not great at communicating the schedule (I had to call 3 times to confirm an install date and time) but showed up exactly when they told me they would. once they got here one guy went on the roof and one stayed by the truck cutting the materials. After about 10 minutes, a gust of wind (I assume) blew the materials off the roof and right though our screen patio. I would think that securing the materials would be routine but I guess everyone makes a mistake. so they finished the job and I told them I would not sign or pay until my patio was fixed. I thought someone was going to contract me quickly about remedying the situation but I had to call them after about 2 hours. Once I spoke to the service manager (Ryan Tone) and sorted out the details, they had a reputable screen vendor come out and replace the screens that were torn. They then sent me the invoice and we paid it. I thought that they should have taken some money off of the bill for the inconvenience - we had friends in over the weekend and it looked horrible - but they didn't and I didn't think I should have had to ask for it. The work was very well done, the service recovery was well handled and timely but I thought there could have been more consideration for the incident. Ryan was the best part of the whole experience though. Bravo for a seamless service recovery getting the screen fixed. That is why I selected that I would hire them again, I would just ask for Ryan directly next time."

"Dropped sod off and never came back or called. We've been prepping for this sod for almost 2 years. Every weekend for the last 6 months prepping the soil and putting hardscape in. I'm out of town and husband took 2 days off to be there. Couldn't make it the first day so we scheduled today. The sod came and is still sitting there at 8 pm.
After about 8 phone calls and 2 emails the lady JUST called my husband. "Well, what do you want me to do, I said I was sorry."
- Update to this review: Provider installed the sod the following day 9/30 and apologized for the curt response from the day before. Unfortunately my husband was not able to be there as he had taken the 28th (first install date) and 29th (second install date) off as vacation days already.

The job was done poorly, with gaps between pieces of sod (up to 2") although Denise assured me the sod was laid as they would have in their own yard. Everything I read says the pieces should be right next to each other. Lawn Pros came back out and filled in some of the holes with small pieces of sod, but a slow-growing sod such as Zoysia will take much longer to fill in and the small pieces are less likely to survive.

The company has been very responsive since that first day, calling and coming out to look at our issues and try to resolve. At this point they have done everything they can to make it right. "

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Howey In The Hills, FL

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
