"The service was for Radon Mitigation in our home that had higher than acceptable Radon levels. The work was professionally done, and care was taken to protect carpeting etc during their work. The crew updated us home owners as they did their work and asked permissions for needed modifications to the house. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for quality workmanship, congenial communication and moderate pricing."

"A+ It went great! Doug was early, and already had the out buildings inspected before I arrived. This left me time to focus on the home, which was the bulk of the inspection time. I really appreciated that, since I was on my lunch, and I am more concerned about the home than the other buildings. Doug was very thorough and explained why he would either flag or not flag an item. He explained what to look for when it comes to settling of a home, which eased my mind. It is also convenient that Doug has his own Radon detector. He set it up two days before the inspection date so we could review the preliminary results together. TEST FOR RADON! The price was very reasonable for something so important. It was high in this house, which is common for homes in MN and WI. I was then able to ask the owner to install a radon mitigation system."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"they were extremely thorough, and found a lot of things for us to consider. other home inspectors I've had haven't been nearly as thorough and have missed many issues. they were really helpful and accommodating as well. they give you a larger report before you leave, complete with pics and sumarizations on the major issues."

"We have the house on the market; noticed leaking from the base of the HWH last night, so we called this morning.  They offered today or tomorrow to do the repair - we chose today.  They were here on time, did a great job in a very efficient manner and hauled away the old one all about an hour. <br />"

"In February I had Standard Water Control install a new drain tile system on a home.  They did a fabulous job.  Were very prompt in performing the service and haven't had water issues in the basement again even with the winter melt and big rains.  <br> <br> <br>Had another property that the sump pump went out on this week.  I called and they were able to arrive in an hour and quickly replaced the sump pump for $575.  Also installed an alarm so if the sump pump ever went out we would hear the warning alarm before we experienced the flooding in the basement.  Very fast and great quality.  Appreciate them very much!"

"Steve was extremely professional. He returned phone calls promptly, was punctual, flexible, informative and responsive to our questions and concerns. His system effectively reduced our radon levels to less than a third of their previous reading, making our home safe right down to its lowest occupiable level. He was extremely accommodating to our scheduling requests, even going so far as to pick up our post-installation testing unit on a Saturday so we could open the windows and enjoy fresh air on one of our last warm weekends. Our only disappointment was that the fan unit on the system was a little loud when we were outside the house sitting near it, and he immediately returned to install a muffler system that solved the issue. We highly recommend Classic Radon Services, and would definitely hire Steve again. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Hudson, WI

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
