"We spent all summer talking with siding contractors. All of them disappointed us for various reasons (costs, games, delays). We finally contacted Lakewoods Remodeling, and we are very glad we did. Their pricing was very reasonable, and they did not play games. They started when they said they would start. They finished when they said they would finish. They used high quality materials. They did high quality work. They showed concern for making everything look good (and it does). To summarize, the value they provided was excellent. We would definitely use them again, and we highly recommend them."

We are Minnesota’s leading siding, roofing and replacement window contractor. Since 1995, we've protected your home, possessions and family from the rain, wind, snow, sun and ice that are part of our local weather. Our experienced and highly trained installation crews are ready to help you make your home more comfortable, convenient and energy efficient. Twin Cities Siding and Roofing is the home improvement contractor you can trust to treat you with honesty, integrity and respect and deliver great work with lasting value. License # BC752041.
"The work the actual crew does is fine, the problem we experienced was how unusually long the project took, the extremely poor (practically non-existent) communication from TCSP "project manager" and issues that TCSP and/or their recommended subcontractors wouldn't take responsibility for and not doing what they say they will do. SALES First I'll touch on the sales and design experience. At first I was really impressed by our salesperson. He seemed very knowledgeable and interested in our project. This all changed once we had agreed to move forward with them. With all the siding contractors I had asked if they have design services. Our salesperson said they did however when it came down to finalizing colors and materials he acted like we were really putting them out asking for a 3d design model so we could visualize the end result. We had to provide our own 3d drawing and try to update it ourselves... GREAT SERVICE (sarcasm).... anyway the fact that they were reluctant to provide a 3D design showing exactly what materials go where lead to a misunderstanding and ultimately disappointment for us. Of course the salesperson blew this off because "they didn't note" something we had requested when we were walking around the house... OK so they're lack of notation is my problem? Lessoned learned, get everything in writing from these guys. ELECTRICAL TCSP did the disconnect, left pieces of old electrical outlets strung out all over the place. They didn't note when there was an externally mounted outlet which lead to a still unresolved issue when the electricians cam in and replaced the outlets putting in a regular outlet (back to back with an indoor outlet = no insulation, a draft coming into our house through the outlet and ice on the indoor outlet (you'd think they'd take this hazard seriously and want to get it resolved but no). SIDING, SOFFIT, FASCIA Our siding project was delayed 2 weeks due to missing material. This was during material shortage so we figured - makes sense - no big deal. However, delays, false statements about materials being on hand or not lead to a lot of confusion that the lack of communication and conflicting statements from our "project manager" did not help. "The material is in, we'll have a crew their next week." Next week rolls around and nothing. No email from the "project manager", no voicemail, nothing. Every single phase it seemed was a new ****show of disorganization. This project started in June and was finally completed (minus one problem TCSP or their electrical contractor has yet to take responsibility for) this January. GUTTERS All downspouts had been removed during a rainy time of the season for the soffit and fascia install. The "project manager" said he'd send someone out to temp up the downspout when the soffit and fascia were done so we wouldn't have water damage. They didn't, predictably, so I had to do it myself. Gutters were fine, once they were installed. "Project Manager"; why in quotes? Not to be annoying but because our project manager didn't seem to actually "manage" our project. If he had, all the issues we had would have been resolved or avoided altogether. He does not communicate adequately. He makes false promises, then ghosts you when you wonder where they are. I would never work with these guys again. I seriously wonder if I just got the two worst people they have or if others have experienced the same thing."

"The service was outstanding! Pann was very easy to work with, extremely helpful, courteous, and very quick to respond when we reached out to him. He was very professional, friendly and personable. We never felt like we were not his number one priority. He followed-up multiple times to make sure we were in the loop with the process and where we were in the process of the claim and services. The roof and gutters look great! The crew did a wonderful job and were very fast and efficient. We thought it would have taken and extra day or two. It really wasn't an inconvenience to us at all. We are very happy with the company and everyone involved. We would definitely do business with them again and recommend family and friends to them. Thank you!"

Keyprime Roofing and Remodeling is a local home improvement company offering exterior remodeling services in the Twin Cities area for nearly a decade. We specialize in high-quality roofing, windows, siding, gutters installation. We are dedicated to providing our customers with the best materials, craftsmanship, and follow-through.
"I will call this “The Good, The Bad and the Ugly review” as I am breaking this review into the 3 teams that we had – 2 very good and done quickly and 1 inferior with the most time spent at our house – thus the overall 3 star grade. The Good • Roofing Team – Grade: A. Efficient, good job, found virtually no nails or roofing materials on the ground • Gutters – Grade: A. One man crew but he knew what he was doing and provided good suggestions for modifying our water flow. The Bad • Siding & Window Team – Grade: C to D. Not sure how they were trained but they didn’t seem to understand some common construction basics. A few of the many examples – o They nailed the siding on wrong and had to start over. o They almost ripped the 120V electrical outlet off the house without turning off the breaker but it was the weekend and we happened to be in the garden and saw them. o Installed the dryer vent wrong twice – once painting it shut and the next time putting on a vent with a label on it saying “not for use with clothes dryers” due to the pre-installed screen. The Ugly • Siding & Window Team – Used caulk as touch up paint on LP Smartside (or just used the siding to clean off their dirty fingers?) – leaving random “chicken pox marks” all over new siding. Garage, driveway and all 4 sides of our house were filled with equipment and garbage for the length of the project. Not the crew to have if you have children or pets – they left old saw blades and other sharp objects around the garage entrance and the house. I didn’t expect a spotless home every night but I didn’t expect to be living with this much disarray with minimal clean up each night, even after asking the supervisor to improve pickup of at least garbage and sharp objects in the garage and the common walking paths. Nor did we expect to be spending our fall cleaning caulk off the “maintenance free” siding and re-painting it and installing our outside boxes correctly. I will give the owner credit for realizing that his siding and window crew did inferior work and giving us a discount on our bill. None-the-less, I am rating the services provided based on the quality of the work done."

Vinyl siding is almost always more affordable than wood. Its materials are inexpensive and installation is straightforward, making it more cost-effective than wood, which calls for high-quality lumber and more labor-intensive work. Keep in mind that wood offers a warm, classic look and, with proper maintenance, can enhance curb appeal and resale value in a way that vinyl may not.
Well-maintained wood siding can serve your home for 40 years or more. Routine care is the best way to maximize its lifespan. Simply wash it gently, seal or stain it every few years, and replace any boards that show signs of rot or insect damage. Touch-up paint or stain helps keep UV rays and moisture at bay, while prompt repairs prevent minor issues from spreading.
Covering a 1,500-square-foot house with wood siding costs an average of $12,500, assuming professional installation and mid-range materials. You can reduce the price by choosing a less expensive species or tackling minor prep work yourself, but weigh the savings against the time you’ll invest and the risk of mistakes. Hiring a vetted professional usually delivers a tighter fit, a longer lifespan, and warranty protection.
Swapping vinyl for wood is feasible as long as your home’s framing and sheathing meet current building code requirements. A contractor will strip the vinyl, inspect the substrate, install a breathable house wrap, and maintain a clearance of at least six inches between the new boards and the ground to prevent moisture from accumulating. Because wood and vinyl behave differently, budget extra for the transition. When done right, the upgrade adds rich character and can lift your home’s value.
In some cases, you can install new wood siding right over an existing layer, but only if the old material is flat, solid, and completely dry. Your contractor will first verify that the walls are structurally sound and that adding weight will not violate the code. They’ll also pay close attention to drainage planes and ventilation to prevent moisture from being trapped. If the existing siding shows signs of rot or warping, complete removal is the wiser choice, even though it incurs additional labor costs of roughly $7 to $13 per square foot.
