"I had originally planned on installing a mitigation system myself, having already priced out all of the parts, etc. necessary. I called Trenton to get a ballpark estimate and found him very reasonably priced, based on what the materials cost. I had him come and do a baseline test and the result was that my Radon level was under the EPA recommended limits. Trenton made me aware of this and said based on this, I did not need mitigation to reach EPA limits, but if I did decide to do it, it would definitely reduce what I did have. He said it was up to me, that he could not make a recommendation either way. WHAT A REFRESHING AND PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE. NO PRESSURE.... My opinion is that the only good Radon is no Radon and elected to get the mitigation. We scheduled the mitigation system install right then. Day of install Trenton was prompt, made next to no dust even though he cut through my basement floor and wall, and finished early. He then set up follow up test and I tested at 1.2. AWESOME. He reviewed the system with me, what to expect going forward and asked for any questions. PROFESSIONAL ALL THE WAY."

"I was very happy with my home inspection. My inspector was very thorough and had the report ready and sitting in my inbox early the next morning. A couple issues popped up with the house and I'm so glad the inspector caught them. Aluminum wiring and possibly needing a new roof are huge ticket items. I was pleasantly surprised the inspector actually took his shoes off when he entered the house. Very respectful. :) They do outsource the termite inspection, but my price was all inclusive of it."

"<p>The entire process was smooth from the day when I made the inquiry for what would be included to the inspection to making the appointment.  Don was our inspector.  I arrived at the home where we were interested in purchasing at the time he was supposed to arrive.  He was already there.  He must have arrived early.  He was very professional, and polished.  After speaking with him for a short amount of time, I could tell he was knowledgeable.  I called my husband and shared that I am so glad we are in good hands for our first home inspection.  I left and returned a few hours later.  He shared the full report with my husband and I.  He was very detailed and walked us through every step of the home where he found an issue or something that should be brought to our attention.  We ended up not moving forward with that home as there were so many issues but we do not regret the home inspection.  We are now finalizing a home purchase with a different home.  We thought of this company and Don again.  I called right away.  I recommend this home inspection to anyone. 5 stars.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>FYI, we had the home inspection, termite inspection and radon testing.</p> <br />"

"It went very well! Tim came to the apartment and looked at the issue. He told me that he will place the order for the new and more efficient unit than the old boiler and install asap. Tim's crew came the following Monday to demolish the old boiler and installed the new boiler on the same day. The new boiler was up and running on the same day. It was a smooth startup!"

"I found this company because it is rated number one on Angie's List, I just used the service. Maury came to inspect a home for the pre-purchase. Now I understand why he is number one. He is very professional, inspected the house for four hours level by level, and explained to us after each level. We are so impressed with his work that we are definitely going to use his service again. He sent us the report the same day, and answered my questions through email after the inspection. Everything done very promptly, we are impressed. His inspection does not include insects/termite, radon, mold, lead, or asbestos. I guess special license is needed to inspect these five things, if you have concerns, then you need a specialist. But Maury is like a family doctor, he will tell you if you need to see a specialist, and can recommend to you one if needed."

"Ok. We have had plenty of house inspections, and our preferred area inspector only does Ohio, so we had to find a Kentucky-licensed inspector. We want an inspector who works for us and not the realtor, so we asked around for referrals. We used him on the referral of an acquaintance who said , "We always recommend him." In my opinion, he did the bare minimum.  <br /> In the past we have had inspectors who open every window all the way. He only cracked the windows, many of which do not open more than that crack or which slam closed when you open them.  Other inspectors have tested every outlet in the house. He only tested one per room. He asked us to use our eyes as well and point out anything. I pointed out a leak under the toilet, which he said was just from the water being turned on.  The owners asked us why our inspector did not point out the drip on the toilet and let us know that they repaired it. <br /> He did the termite inspection, but did not really bend over to look at anything.  The sellers had wood stacked under the deck, which I would think is not a good idea? He didn't say anything about this. <br /> He spent a lot of time typing things into his computer.  His report was not any more detailed than any other I have ever gotten. And, the turn-around time for the final report was just as long (a bit longer than some we have had), and they didn't spend an hour while we were standing around waiting on him to do it. <br /> Fortunately, he seems to have been wrong about the big items of concern that he mentioned.  If we didn't have experience and other informational resources to balance out what we were told, those items could have easily been deal-breakers. <br /> The biggest reason I used him was because he didn't farm out the WDI and Radon. But, if I had it to do all over again, I'd rather deal with three people coming in to do the work and get a better inspection than using him again. <br />"

"Extremely responsive, efficient, and professional. Very quick response to my phone call. Explained all the details of the process for radon mitigation. They came out within a day or two to provide an estimate, and they were able to perform the service that week. I highly recommend them for radon mitigation. ?On future houses in need of mitigation, I will definitely be using them again."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Independence, KY

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
