"FABULOUS. This company and Mr. Farrington ROCKS! Do not hesitate to hire him to do whatever you need. He does what he says he will do, when he says he will do so, and sticks with the estimate. His price was fair and reasonable. <br /> His guys worked hard and fast and Mr. Farrington was always available to check on the progress. <br /> If you have furry critters you want to be able to enjoy the outdoors while protected from the sun and rain  - and other creatures - let Mr.Farrington install you a catio with screen mesh that is manufactured to resist kitty cat claws. <br /> My only  "complaint "is that I couldn't talk him into taking home 5 or 6 kittens! (Just kidding.) I appreciate the pride he takes in his work, and his helpers, also. They have my vote. <br /> <br />"

"First, the representative who came out to give a quote made several suggestions that we had not thought of. We appreciated that he gave us options and let US decide if we wanted to spend a little more or go a more economical route. Second, the communication, before, during and after the install was exceptional. They kept us in the loop and they responded quickly to any calls we made to them. Third, the installation went smoothly and quickly. They had a process and routine that enabled them to do the install with little "waiting around" time. Last, as with any renovation, we discovered a couple of minor problems after the work was done. All our problems were addressed and fixed promptly. This is the second home for which Folker's has provided new windows. We were extremely pleased both times."

"Mr. Douglas did an excellent job (as always). I have a new metal roof and it was done in a very professional and timely manner. Mr. Douglas is very particular that any job he is doing or overseeing is done to his standards (and he is a perfectionist). You will get quick response, good work and will be well informed at every step of the job. I have relied on Mr. Douglas for windows, siding and roof and have been very pleased on every project."

"The floor man was finishing up in the house and was looking for a place to washh his hands. Went to the back of the house and spotted the leak in the hot water heater which is outside the house in a small shed. He called us, and we came right over to the house. I called Handyman, and they had someone out within 40 or so minutes. He shut off the water at the meter, which we couldn't do. He bought the necessary items to do the work and came back the next day as promised. He was on time and finished the work. Job well done. Very prompt, courteous, on time, and worked diligently! I'm so sorry I can't remember his name, but if I need similar work to be done I would call Handyman and ask them to look him up. A very hard worker. <br />"

"They came out immediately and repaired the screen and replaced the door closer in a minimun of time and very professionally.....When I inquired about an invoice the owners son said."Dad warranties his work for two years, there is no bill".........I have finally found a company that is proud of their work and stands behind it, unlike most of the jacklegs that you have to hire today. Can't recommend Backyard Paradise highly enough."

"That turned out fine. They did the roof, the house as well as the pavers around it. Two employees came out and it took them about a couple hours. One employee did spend a couple hours alone on the roof. This was done on a one story home."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Irvington, AL

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
