"As a Building & General Contractor myself Newgrange electric is one of my best electrical sub contractors. Eddie the owner is very hard working. Always reliable, extremely professional and maintains an office manager Nicole who knows what's going on, on all their projects so you always have someone to contact during business hours. Eddies crew is based of long time employees that are very knowledgeable in there work. Eddie will always get back to you even after business hours, which is not the norm for many vendors. We need more contractors like this. Joe Algeri, Orchard Builders & Construction & Skyline Plumbing & Heating."

"Great experience, I have used many electricians in the past and decided to go with BQ electric, an Angie’s list recommendation with solid reviews . From beginning to end the process was first class. They came, gave me a prompt and knowledgeable estimate at a fair price. Installed transfer switch the following week sent two different electricians who were competent , nice as can be and very professional. I will be calling BQ electric next time I need work done 100% these guys were awesome"

"Came to my house the same day and completed the job. Mike the electrician was a nice guy and did a good job. $200 the first hour and $100 each additional hour. Changed existing ceiling fan, switches and outlets. I already had the parts, took 3+ hours, cost almost $500 with tax. Not sure if this is standard. I called them after another electrician who was supposed to come that day canceled."

"I hired Brian about a year ago to update the electric panel, sub panel, and change out about a dozen or so two prong outlets in a house I just moved into. He and his crew did an outstanding job. Brian was very friendly, honest, and professional. Told me all the costs upfront. Very fair pricing. His electric work is all up to code (which should go without saying, but as a new home owner I'm learning that there's plenty of contractors who try to cut corners). I've hired him back twice since the initial major job to do a couple minor jobs as they came up. I will definitely hire him again as future projects arise."

FAQs for electrical switches, outlets & fixtures install or repair projects in Island Park, NY

To select and hire an electrician for your light switch installation, start by evaluating candidates as you would for any skilled position. Ask detailed questions, request a written quote, and verify their licensing credentials. This careful screening prevents unexpected fees and ensures every aspect of the installation, including any drywall repairs, complies with code.

A light switch can malfunction due to compromised wiring or overheating conditions. Faulty connections and excess heat diminish the switch’s performance. If you hear crackling, popping, or hissing sounds when toggling the switch, this indicates active electrical faults that pose a safety hazard and demand immediate professional inspection. Prompt attention prevents further damage and ensures reliable operation.

Installing a light switch takes 30 minutes or less, on average. The installation time depends on the switch type, with dimmer switches requiring additional time compared to standard on-off switches. While the hardware replacement might be completed in 15 minutes, it's essential to adhere to safety protocols, like turning off the circuit breaker and verifying there's no power, for a safe and code-compliant installation.
