"Phenomenal Company, Rob, Hayley, and the rest of the crew are great! Had them strip top vegetation, install gravel and pack it down making it ready for paving. They also took down 6 huge trees for us, removed the root balls, filled in holes, and hauled it all away. Easy to work with, Great Work, Great Pricing. 10 STARS."

"It went beautifully.  The granite looks better than when it was installed 15 years ago.  He did a tremendous job.  He was prompt and courteous in responding to my inquiry. He gave great advice on how best to repair the granite and recommended only what services were needed.  He was very prompt in making the service appointment and was very punctual.  He was at my house the entire day and was very amiable, professional and tidy.  I would highly recommend him for any job.  Brian is a very likable, professional and conscientious businessman.  His services were of great value and his fees great value those services. <br />"

"Looks good overall however, after about six months it started cracking. The stamping was okay, but you can see the broom marks in the pattern. They must have dropped the mold at one point because there is a mar in the surface. When Mark came out he said I should 'get over it' and that I should get a hobby, not look at the patio. ???? He said concrete cracks and I shouldn't be surprised. I am embarrassed by the quality and think he should be too. Finally, the patio isn't even and there are at least two places where the water pools instead of running off. Marcus is a very hard working man and I think a combination of being in a hurry and the fact that it had rained very hard the two days between the removal of the old patio and pouring the new one, the base of gravel had been compromised and parts had eroded."

"The crew was punctual, worked quickly, and completed the job and cleaned up our yard in approx. 2.5 hours. Although I had to wait about 6 weeks to get the job completed, I wasn’t in a huge rush. The head person on the crew walked the site with me before starting, explained what they planned to do and asked if I had any concerns and/or questions. I would recommend Hoppe to anyone and I will use them again. Although they were not the cheapest quote I received, they were a great value for the price. I received 5 quotes ranging from $560-1,300. Hoppe was $739."

"Having recently moved, we reached out to Dennis to discuss options to repair/ redo the driveway to our new house which is fairly steep and had been neglected over the last few years. <br /> Dennis returned my call promptly and was very upfront regarding his capabilities and prices. Upon discussing our issue(s), Dennis came out and took a look at our driveway at no cost. After review, we discussed two options and Dennis gave detailed explanations on the pros and cons of each option. <br /> Once we chose the option we felt would work better for us, Dennis came out to perform the work as scheduled. Dennis dug up the old driveway/ hardpack and installed and compacted the new traffic bond. I have to say, I was expecting quality work and I was not disappointed. The new driveway was a 100% improvement over the old, rutted, disintegrating surface. <br /> I would like to note that I am writing this review at the end of December, 2013, and the driveway has gone through two snow storms and two plowing sessions. As near as I can tell, the surface that Dennis installed is holding up well to the abuse so far, and is a good indication of the quality of work performed. Also, considering the driveway is relatively steeply pitched, I have been pleased with the extremely minimal washout we experienced during the late summer/ fall rains. <br /> I would recommend Dennis to anyone that is looking for quality, reasonably priced driveway work. <br />"

"They were working on my neighbors yard asked for a quote for my yard. They came over after they finished my neighbors hard and removed the 4 bushes and place the mulch across the front area of my house. They did an awesome job and very fair price. They hauled away the old bushes. Cleaned up after themselves very good Will definitely hire again. Very friendly people"

"Old World Stone showroom is full of a wide variety of countertop finishes. I was able to take home a stack of samples to check for color compatability. I worked with Brian, he was very helpful and provided quick answers to all my questions. I ordered my quartz countertops, and they were installed in 2 weeks. They look beautiful, and I love the o'gee upgraded finish. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Jackson, WI

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
