"Prompt call to set up same day appt to come look at project. Per his advice he didn’t think the damage was bad enough to replace at this time. I really respected his honesty and will be my first call in the future"

"I read some of the reviews of this business after I paid a $3,000 deposit and was spooked - experienced same poor communication(s) and felt misled. However, that being said, in the end I am completely thrilled with my new doors - it should also be noted the project cost (replace three 9x8 garage doors) was over 40% less expensive than other vendors, AND, Kylie was willing to do the job on a weekend of Christmas so I did not need to burn up PTO time at work!!! Kylie is a very personable and likeable guy, but as I told him, the lines of communication needs improvement - one thing I learned in this process is that Kath purchased doors from a supplier that apparently is not realistic of when the doors will be manufactured and/or shipped. Other contractors I had estimates from all said they had a lead time of 2 to 3 months before the doors would arrive and could be installed - I picked Kath because the time from order to install was about 1 month. I suggested to Kylie that his supplier was not doing him any favors by being so optimistic that doors would arrive in 3 weeks so they could be installed in less than a month - count on a lead time of 2-3 months; if there are major storms in the US where a lot of damage has occurred, overhead doors are going o be in demand and the lead time for the manufacturer will likely increase by weeks or months. All in all, I am happy and satisfied with my selection of Kath Overhead Doors although I did experience some anxiety and frustration with delays and communication. Now for my ratings: Work Quality - 5 Stars - Since I was home Sat, I was able to observe Kylie install the doors - all 3 doors and new rails were completed in about 5 hours (this included demolition and clean up) - it was obvious to me that Kylie had experience installing overhead doors. Customer Service - 5 Stars - Kylie installed the doors on a Saturday before Christmas so I did not need to give up PTO time at work - additionally, he helped me as I was installing 3 new overhead door openers that I had NOT purchased from him - he helped anyways. Oh, yes, by the way, Kylie traveled nearly 60 miles (one way) to do this job. Value for the money - 5 Stars - I saved about $4,000 by going with Kylie over every other contractor I had a proposal from. Bottom line - money talks - however, expect delays and not the best of communication based on my experience - figure on 2 - 3 months before the doors show up and install is scheduled, if the supplier gets them there sooner, count your blessings. Would I hire Kylie and Kath Overhead Doors again? YES ABSOLUTELY I would, with the understanding that patience is a virtue and eventually the work will be done - all the while knowing that I am saving thousands of $$ by being having patience. I wish Kylie well and am sorry to see his supplier is tanking his business. Perhaps Kylie has secured another more reliable supplier - the doors will arrive ............ eventually, have patience and realize you are saving a LOT of $$$ going with Kylie. If you want your doors installed next week (especially custom order like mine), go ahead an hire a major company, but, you will be paying for the million dollar inventory they carry and 20 receptionists who answer the phones."

"I only use James when I need some work done to my house. He responds fast, gets the work done quicker than just about anyone else I've ever used and seems very concerned with leaving his customers happy."

FAQs for garage door opener installation and replacement projects in Janesville, MN

A chain-drive opener costs less, but it’s louder and needs more upkeep. If your budget allows, a belt-drive model is often the smarter long-term buy, especially for an attached garage with a bedroom above where noise matters. The decision between a chain or belt opener comes down to your budget and needs, and your garage door opener installer can help you choose an option that best suits you.

Choosing the right horsepower for your garage door opener is crucial for safe and efficient performance. Your garage door’s design and material determine the required horsepower. A single-car garage demands a half horsepower rating, while a two-car garage requires a rating between three-fourths and 1.25 horsepower. Selecting the proper power level ensures optimum performance and durability over the life of the opener.

Plan on a quick garage door tune-up once or twice a year. Tighten the chain or belt, lubricate moving parts, test the safety sensors, and swap out weak batteries in the remotes or backup unit. A few dollars in lubricant and 30 minutes of work can fend off costly repairs, keep the door running smoothly, and help the opener hit its full life expectancy.
