"We had wanted to add a deck to our home for years. We finally were in a place to do it this year. We chose Deck Guardian and we couldn’t be happier. Every step of the process was painless, and the staff we dealt with were amazing. The first person we dealt with, Ian, came preppy and made suggestions for what our deck could look like. He thoroughly explained the process. Once all the permits had been received, building began and we were so blessed to have Roberto and Antonio as our builders. Their work was impeccable. The result was we have a deck that was entirely worth the wait. It is beautiful, solidly built, and the envy of our neighbors. In short, we couldn’t be happier or recommend Deck Guardian highly enough."

"Oronoque was here for about an entire month.  6 days a week as long it didn't rain.  The owner Jim Faris was on site everyday and was working along with his crew.  His team is very professional and very courteous.  They unpacked and cleaned up every day.  His team also takes lots of time to make sure the job gets done right.  This is important.  From when they arrive to when the leave, it was a nice experience.  Jim also takes lots of time to explain why and how they are building the deck the way they were.
Every house needs work, and some places on the home need it more than others.  Jim was able to help us understand what needed to be done first, and what would wait a little longer.  I didn't feel like he was pressuring me.  It was more along the lines of this is Good but that maybe you should look at that earlier than later kinda thing.  Also Jim provided references, lots of pictures and we visited another job he did so see the deck work.
1.  Remove existing 2 roofs, Removing all gutters.  Replace all Soffit, Facia and Rake trim with Azek.  Install ice and water 36" to the entire perimeter at gutters.  Balance of roof to have vinyl roofing paper.  Replace all vent boots and check all flashings.  Install 30 year architectual style shines and new 6" gutters with 4" leaders.  He also installed new Soffit vents.  Also I needed clapboard replaced and painted in some areas as well so they did the entire side of my home.  It was in pretty bad shape but now looks great!
2.  Same as above but for dormers about the garage and also install new clapboard on the dormers.
3.  Remove existing deck.  Install new pressure treated frame (2x10), new pressure treated header (2x10)
Installation of Azek deck with composite railings.  There is a lot of work in this one as you can assume from demo to rebuild.
4.  Lots of new Azek trim around the garage, and rest of the house.
5.  Family room with vaulted ceiling both painted and repaired.
6.  Installation of new Kitchen slider.
7.  Repair of pocket door.  Repair of Saddle from Kitchen to Family room.

"We went on a short family get away and came home to a fully framed second story deck. The next day the Trex and trainings were installed and the next non-rainy day they broke through the wall and installed a new sliding door. I expected the job to take 3 or 4 weeks not 3 or 4 days!"

"Mike went beyond his service. He replaced my concrete patio and place it with paver tile stone. He paint my bathroom and put up new light fixtures and fixed my wood kitchen floor. He built a beautiful deck. Very nice experience working with Mike. Not disappointed at all. Very nice man"

FAQs for deck or porch projects in Jersey City, NJ

Trex decking can become slippery when wet, but it's less slippery than traditional wood decking. To enhance safety during wet or icy conditions, you can add aluminum nonslip treads to your stairs and use rock salt to prevent ice buildup. Just remember to rinse off salt residue to keep your deck looking its best.

Trex decking is water-resistant but not completely waterproof. While the boards repel moisture and resist deterioration, it's important to ensure the substructure is properly protected. Using a system like Trex RainEscape can help keep the area beneath your deck dry and prolong the life of the supporting structure. Proper installation with effective drainage and ventilation will help prevent any moisture-related issues.

Trex decking requires only minimal maintenance and is designed so that regular cleaning is sufficient to preserve its appearance. The boards need to be swept and rinsed with a sprayer to remove debris, and no sealing is necessary because the water-resistant design prevents moisture damage. Maintaining your deck with a consistent cleaning routine helps sustain its durability and visual appeal, eliminating the extra expense of sealing that wood decks incur at costs between $600 and $1,300.
