"I had recently bought a new home and knew that I wanted to add a bathroom to the partially finished basement.  I met with about five contractors and got estimates.  Most of the contractors were very pushy about the location of the bathroom, which differed from my preferred location.  Justin was the first one I met with that said I he could make it happen in that space for a reasonable price.  Other estimates extended up to about $25,000 for this bath.  Justin was one of the lower estimates, but not the lowest.  I picked him based on the fact that his attitude all along was that whatever I wanted, he would make happen.  Also, being a single female, I appreciated that when I asked questions, he never talked down to me, or acted like I was stupid for not knowing- he always took the time to explain things without getting irritated or frustrated.  Any changes throughout the way, he had his guys change without a complaint.  I was also very comfortable having all of his employees in my home.
This bath was a lot of labor since there was not a rough in.  Other contractors complained about having to drill the concrete up along the entire basement floor.  Justin's plumber was able to come in and easily locate another line underground that eliminated so much drilling.  They cut the wall and framed out a door at the base of the stairs, relocated the water heater, installed then rough in, added a vent, outlet, lights, vanity, toilet, and full standing shower.
We had a hang up with the vanity (due to another business, NOT Justin's) which hung up the timeline- this whole time Justin and his team were VERY patient waiting for the vanity to be built.
Justin also worked with me to find ways to save money along the way, while still providing the best product.  The price did not include tile or fixtures- these I bought separately through Floor and Decor, Home Depot, and Lowes.
This was the first time I had hired a contractor for such a large project, and I would definitely use this company again.  I have actually already scheduled a second job with them.

"RJ Construction made significant repairs to our 30 year old cedar deck, stairs and screened porch. The old wood was replaced by Trex; a modern railing and screen system were installed; and the porch posts wrapped in a white pvc trim. The result is an outstanding modern looking porch/deck. "Although we have not moved forward yet to build our screened-in porch, James and his team at DesignBuilders will be the contractor I select when we do.  (Due to an unexpected health concern with a family member, we had to put our plans on hold.)   We want to add a 14? by 16? screened enclosure to our existing deck which is extremely high off of the ground.   While the other two contractors complained about this (one even charged extra for it) James was confident that he could build exactly what I wanted no matter what obstacles our location would present.
I interviewed three contractors for our project.   Their proposals all fell within $2000 of each other.  Yet James was by far the most professional and knowledgeable of the group.  The other two contractors merely pencil-drew their vision of the porch while James and his team provided a computer-aided design (cad cam) of the proposed porch.  When I called to set up the initial appointment, James asked me to first send him a few pictures of my project area, a site survey (plat), and a brief description of what my project entails. 
Jodie, his designer (who is amazing and very personable!) then used this information to set up an online meeting.  For those of you who have never experienced an online meeting, don?t let it intimidate you ? Jodie is so helpful; she will walk you right through it.  Jodie builds a sample design for your project so you can give instant feedback and make necessary design changes right on the spot.  The online meeting is a starting point.  Next is the site visit by James and his team, who, because of the preliminary online meeting, arrive with a good working knowledge of your project.   Unlike your average contractor, James is ahead of the game and can provide you with much more detail about what you can expect when the project is completed. 
Because my roof lines were so complicated, Jodie came to my home to make sure she had all of the information she needed.  Just like James, Jodie is very professional and very easy to talk to.  She immediately put me at ease.  The cad cam designs she prepared gave me a clear picture of the different roof options (gable, shed, flat, etc.).  They also showed how the porch would attach to my house from several points of view.  This gave me a very detailed picture of what the finished project would look like.  All contractors should offer this approach!  It allows you to tweak and modify the design to your exact specifications. 
Next Jodie, James and Edward (another awesome DesignBuilder team member) came to my house and spent more than an hour suggesting a variety of options and some alternative approaches for me to consider - some I would never have thought of. They came up with some excellent solutions to the problems associated with our complicated roofline issue.  We settled on a design that met all of my needs while keeping the project within my budget. 
When James sent me his proposal, I felt very confident that he included pricing for every stage of the project, with no hidden fees or surprises.  James and his team prepared two design options, each with detailed pricing and a cad cam picture of how the finished product would look.  I loved both options, so I have the flexibility to pick the one that best fits my needs when I?m ready to start the project.
James has several videos on YouTube (search ?James Moylan builder?) and at his website http://www.designbuildersmd.com  that show his building process from beginning to end.  These videos will clear up any doubts you might have about the quality of his work or his experience in the field.   His is extremely knowledgeable, his team offers the level of professionalism and comfortable communication that is very hard to find among builders and remodelers, and every person I?ve talked with DesignBuilders has shown a genuine interest in my building project. 
Without a doubt, when we are ready to move forward with our project, DesignBuilders will be the contractor we hire!
